Sometimes, for people with Vista or people running Norton Antivirus get stuck on the security part. Well, I figured out something to get by this. Follow this step by step.
1) Get up to the execute step on your MySQL program.
2) Hit execute and let it do its thing.
3) Like I said before, for some of you that have Vista and Norton, you might it get stuck on applying security settings.
4) Hit skip
5) After that, go back and turn on your MySQL program.
6) Do reconfigure instance and do standard configuration.
7) Enter back your normal password and make sure you enter a different password than your original.
Hit next than execute.
9) After steps 1-9, your MySQL program should work and apply the security settings.
10) Repeat step 6 and 7 but this time put your new password in and then put your wanted password instead for the new passwords.
11) Congratulations! Your MySQL has applied your security settings!
I hope this guide worked .
