    [Hit Rating] Class requirements

This post will give details of what Spell Hit/Hit Rating is required for each class vs bosses (mostly 10man and above), as I often get asked this question in game.

nb. Dual-Wielding melee classes' Hit requirements are slightly more complex, and are mentioned at the end of this post.

    Importance of Hit Rating
    ------------------------------
If you are not Hit Capped (maxed out Hit Rating for PvE content), then +Hit is the most important stat in maintaining acceptable DPS in a raid.
Once you are Hit Capped, you can then focus more on your other relevant stats. nb. The stat priority is different for each class after the Hit Cap is reached.

    Class DPS Hit Rating Requirements
    -----------------------------------------

    Druid Melee: 142

    Druid Spell: 202
    Talent bonuses:
152 with Balance of Power talent

    Hunter: 142
    Talent bonuses:
    95 with Surefooted talent

    Mage: 202
    Talent bonuses:
164 for Frost and Fire spells with Elemental Precision talent
76 for Arcane spells with Arcane Focus talent

    Paladin Melee: 142
    Talent bonuses:
    95 with Precision talent

    Paladin Spell: 202
    Talent bonuses:
    164 with Precision talent

    Priest: 202
    Talent bonuses:
76 for Shadow with Shadow Focus talent
26 for Mind Blast alone with Shadow Focus and Focused Mind talents
152 for Mass Dispell, Smite and Mind Blast with just the Focused Mind talent

    Rogue: 442 (for Dual-Wielding*)
363 (for Dual-Wielding*) with Precision talent
    Special Attacks: 142
    63 with Precision talent

    Shaman Spell: 202
    Talent bonuses:
    126 withonly Elemental Precision talent
164 with only Nature's Guidance talent
88 with Elemental Precision and Nature's Guidance talents.

    Shaman Melee: 442 (including Dual-Wielding*)
    Talent bonuses:
348 with Dual Wield Specialization talent.
    395 with Nature's Guidance talent.
300 with Dual Wield Specialization and Nature's Guidance talents.
142 for Special Attacks or 95 with Nature's Guidance talent.

    Warlock: 202
    Talent bonuses:
    76 with 5/5 Suppresion talent.
nb. Suppresion only applies to Affliction spells, so it won't benefit your Destruction spells (Shadowbot, Immolate, Soulshatter, etc.) at all.

    Warrior: 442 (for Dual-Wielding*)
    Talent bonuses:
    395 with Precision talent.
    2handed/Special Attacks: 142
2handed/Special Attacks: 95 with Precision talent.

*Melee that Dual-Wield have such a high Hit Rating cap that common sense is the best way to view your stat needs; never totally disregard Attack Power, Strength, etc.

Exelent thread. You should however put in at the warlock hit rating, that more than 40% of the dps comes from shadow bolt. And most locks in hyjal are /21/40 =)

The OP just copy pasted from WoWWiki and added little effects, but whatever, good post for those who haven't actually learned what their class needs.

First of all, for rogues it's:

    Specials: 69 (5&#37

    White damage: 280 (20%)

without precision, dunno where the **** you got 400+ rofl
Sigh, class doesn't mean shit. While dual wielding your off hand has a 28% chance to miss, your main hand has a 9% chance to miss. Since you do special attacks with your main hand getting 9% is the bare minimum for most melee classes, as it means you will never get an MS/Slam/Sinister Strike/Raptor Stirke (lol) etc missed.

    -------
Actual Information to make my post worthwhile to read:

If you're an shaman or warrior hit rating doesn't mean much. Enh Shaman aim for around ~100 and Fury Warriors go for ~150 in Kara and aim for around 250-300 in the best gear possible.

For those who don't know where they fit in:
    Two-Handed Cap: 9% (142 melee hit rating)
    Dual-Wield Cap: 28% (442 melee hit rating)
Spellcasting Cap: 16% (202 spell hit rating)

Now, getting 28% means you will not miss with your MH/OH white attacks, while getting 9% means you will not miss a special (yellow attack). Casters hit cap is not the same. Bosses have a 17% chance to have a spell resisted, and will always retain 1% chance to resist, so you have to mitigate that down by 16%, through talents and the like.
If you're not going to bother to click the +Rep button, don't say you will.

Please don't generalize every class by saying "get hit capped and let all other stats fall to the wayside". There is no practical way of reaching 363 hit rating with the current level of gear, and it's extremely foolish to try. I'm sitting with 310 hit rating in 5/5 slayer and don't see the possibility to squeeze 50 more hit rating from anything currently in the game... well I could put on my t4 (rofl) but as I said it's simply not practical.

    forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=3268476105&sid=1

That's ok, I'll post the Original format here then
