Path runner - movment based on Locations from log file

I'm bouncing around ideas for a bot that can run a path and farm nodes, run a combat routine. Nothing really crazy. From what I can tell, bots made with Autohotkey or the like which do not depend on memory jumps tend to not attract much attention from the wow devs. So i'm trying to work with sound, the log file, and pixels.

I'm wondering if I setup a read from log sub routine that checks the player's current location against a list of locations and makes movement decisions based on that information if it would work. What has me a little concerned is whether or not the log file is updated fast enough to make it work and if there is any other way to get the player location in a log file besides setting up a extra chat window that spams the players current location every x amount of time.

    Thoughts?

From what I have heard, the log file only updates once your session is done (when you log out).

So you can not rely on reading from a log file.

Not only this, but attaching a process to the log file would be pretty glaringly obvious even if it was real time.
