Automated clicking in a VM?

I'm wondering if it would be safe to run WoW on a virtual machine and have something like autohotkey that just clicks the same spot every 30 seconds or so? It wouldn't need to scan for any pixels or anything, basically I would write a script that would be run on the host machine and send a click to the VM at a certain coordinate.

Would this be relatively safe to do?

You can't send virtual/software keystrokes to a virtual machine from the host machine they will be ignored - you can however program a arduino as a hardware keyboard, or easier use a mouse / keyboard (with macro support) that sends hardware keystrokes at intervals.

It would be complete over kill if you just need to click something via VM.
