Hello all fellow Mutilate rogues (sword rogues even.]
-Do you like daggers over swords/maces/fists?
-Are you a beginner at raiding with a dagger rogue and need help with speccing/circles?
-Are you thinking of jumping over to the Mutilate way of play?
Then this guide is for you.
Step 1:
Speccing into Mutilate PvE:
Viable mutilate builds are:
1) 41/20/0 ~ My Choice:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
2) 41/20/0 ~ Mutilate full PvE.
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
3) 41/20/0 ~Mutilate PvE with some PvP orientation.
Talent Calculator - World of WarcraftReason i did not include 41/0/20 Assasination/Subtlety build is because they are lacking damage.
It has been said over and over again that Opportunity is waaaaay < Off Hand Specialization.
So even if you want to have a PvP/PvE hybrid you will be getting 41/20/0 .
Step 2:
Understanding Mutilate.
What is Mutilate? It is some sort of Backstab but with great differences overally.
Similarity to Backstab:
-Both cost 60 energy.
-Both have the 'must be behind your target' as a prerequisite in order to attack.
-Both do more damage than Hemorrhage and Sinister Strike per special attack.
(meaning a backstab or mutilate will normally hit more than a sinister strike hit and crit more than a sinister strike crit.]
Differences with Backstab:
-Backstab started to decline in Raids and Mutilate has become better than Backstab Combat PvE as of 2.2
-Mutilate has a 50% damage bonus when target has a poison debuff on it. That means it must have the poison on it in it's debuff slot. So instant poison or anesthetic poison won't give you the 50% damage buff since these poisons don't give a poison debuff on the target.
That means you should ALWAYS have the target poisoned before mutilating or else you're gimping your dps,and you waste a good,60 energy.
-Mutilate has a different critical strike system implied to it.
It is considered as TWO hits since you attack with both daggers so it has 3 chances of meelee damage:
HIT
1 WEAPON CRIT
DOUBLE CRIT
Step 3:
Playing Mutilate in PvE:
WARNING: Some boss encounters are poison immune. What does that mean? You're pretty much screwed, but
a)they are seldom
b)Blizzard stated it's trying to fix this issue (classic Blizzard imo doh,at least we didn't get a working as intended)
What poisons do i use?
2x DEADLY POISON always is the way for me.
Don't mind others it's the only thing you've got for PvE Mutilate except for Instant Poison (and in general PvE to be honest)
The Raid Itself. WHADOIDO THEN?!?
Easy easy,don't be that fast.
Your classic rotation would be:
1st Circle:
Mutilate x2
Slice and Dice
2nd Circle:
Mutilate x2 (Shiv if 4 cp)
5 Points Rupture.
Rinse and repeat with some (if any) difference.
IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU HAVE EXPOSE WEAKNESS UP ALL THE TIME FOR THE DMG BONUS!
BUT I WANT TO SEE ZE BIG ENVENOAM CRITZ!
Who doesn't but wait..
a 5 point rupture tick will do MORE damage than a OMFG ENVENOM CRIT in any occasion anytime so you are good to not waste your deadly poison ticks on Envenoms.
YOU CAN BRING ON THE ENVENOM MADNESS THOUGH WHEN THE MOB IS -10% to 5% TO MAKE THINGS FASTER!
Hope you liked my guide. Cheers and top these charts my Mutilate brothers!
