What concerns me is when new patches come out and KJ has no time to release updates. What TH needs is an "auto updater", for when KJ is going to be away. Could the version checker be set up in such a way so that it pulls the the new info and updates the client without much input from KJ?

nope. no way of automating this.^^
its not just setting the version variable to the new version number and compiling it. kj has to figure out all the new offsets where the data is stored in the clients memory. its possible to automate a FEW of these but the vast majority has to be done by kj or others and in the end kj has to edit the offsets and compile a new version.
you wont find a comparable piece of software out there that can do things like this on its own.

A possible problem: If something happens to KJ the whole thing would be instantly "dead", cos no other ones are allowed to work with closed source.
Just thinking. No offense.

yeah if something happened to kj, the worst problem would be the lack of thud updates....

Well, good point. You're right, didn't think it to the last. Still, regardless of harsh assumptions, I consider it a fact of its own.

good job no need for auto updates. Everybody can wait for new Version it happened in the Past for various reason. And maybe it will happen again.

:-D Great to see u KJ.
THX for your work again. It's nice that you found a new "home"
I tried to follow what's happened, but information was realy rare ;-)
If Blizz really wants THUD is not used anymore, they would have gone a much more professional or business like way. i think.
In order that they know quite well about THUD, cause you are alive since nearly 5 years now. O_O
In my opinion they respect your work quite well, but behind the scenes i guess.
Some ideas were taken from THUD in the current D3 HUD.
So i'm happy to see you going on ...
PLZ go on
