target.debuff IS checking the players applied debuff. not any random raid member applied debuff.

Note that if you only need one buff or debuff on a target, you can use:

target.buff(x).any -- Returns TRUE when buff is cast by any player

target.buff(x) -- Returns TRUE when buff is cast by YOU ( the player) and FALSE if it was applied by someone besides you.

Sometimes it is useful to to discriminate between which to use.
