Permanent incense/XP egg

If you have an incense/XP egg active and tab out and change your time back a few minutes (up to an hour) your timer will go up as much as the time you set back.

Unfortunately this must be a visual bug only. I tested it with a lucky egg and although the timer still displayed I only got normal xp e.g 50xp per pokestop after 30 minutes. I didn't have any incense to test with but I imagine it must stop working as well even though the client is still displaying it visually.

Can anyone confirm this? I dont have any incense or eggs at the moment and I am at work where i sit at a desk so i dont wanna buy one and waste it haha.

I just tried it with incense although the timer changed I wasn't getting anything after the first 30 mins were up. Seems to be visual only.
