Elevator Tricks And More! [Guide]

In the past few days I've noticed that info on elevators is very low and could be a huge addition to any private server.

To start off we have GOs you will need/want

Elevator - 152614 (Mechanical, Toshley's Station)
To Mulgore - 50502 (Tauren kind)
Mesa Elevator - 4171 (Tauren Kind)
Mesa Elevator - 4170 (Tauren Kind)
Invisible Wall - 180322
Table - 181305 (Rectangular)
Table - 180698 (Square)
Imperial Throne - 170592 (Flowing lava)
Throne - 179118 (No lava)

Example! Once you've done it once you can do it a hundred times!

Below Picture: Basic GOs. Mechanical Elevator, Mesa, Tables, Wall.


To start we need some sort of platform (Perferable low pop and floating) Use a strafing technique to get them aligned properly)


Next spawn 4171 on a corner (Mesa Elevator)
NOTE: All the Tauren elevators are slightly diffrent regarding PLACMENT and how far they go down. 4171 Is the basic and easy to use one. When spawned the standing part of the elevator goes to a maximum below to where your feet are.

When you spawn and elevator immediatly use .go select and then .go activate. Activating it allows characters to be able to walk on it and move with it. Otherwise you float in mid-air.

Now some 1337 edits. To change the direction the elevator goes (ie diagonal, sideways, ect) Use .go rotate ##. This pictue uses 20.


Second is my favorite elevator, a gnomish contraption!

Sadly when this thing is spawned it goes from about 20yrds below you, to a maximum hight of your feet (Useless... Or is it?)

Turn on .cheat fly and fly above the ground/platform (after you have selected). Use .go move to move it upwards to you. Keep moving up/down untill its bottom point isnt too high and is above ground.

The next important thing after you know elevaor tricks is places to use them, sure platforms are nice but how many people on your server want to go to them? Here we come to Advanced Tables Part 1.

(No pic required, rather easy)

Spawn a table, jump on it, walk to the edge, spawn another table, rinse and repeat.

Do that and you have stairs.

Straight paths - strafe while hitting macro button for spawning a table.

Downwards stairs - Flymode, postion yourself slightly lower

Doing that you can make something HUGE like

/gasp Its a major attraction on my server, its a 3D maze :P
Note: This picture was taken last week, before Illidari struck my server.

With tables you can also make stairways to the sky like

It takes 15mins to get to the top but rember to put something up there, a person would kill themselves if they wasted their lives getting up. You could put the Funserver vendors to atleast make some sort of work to attain gear. (Note: The stairway is out of the 3D maze, total time of average person 34mins.)

I decided to put the Admin HQ up ther ewith some custom GOs. Any player that comes up there can spend time with Gms, ask favors, that kind of thing. PS: Include a vendor that sells parachutes / slowfall pots and a portal out. The red circles are thrones (see above GO list) He middle one has lava (Admin Chair) and other two dont (GM chairs)


with what you know now in less than an hour you could make cool things like this

Or over a period of weeks/day you could make all sorts of Mazes and custom things that will attract players.

Edit: Helpful things to speed further work up:

Macros: Spawn Tables, .go select, .go delete, .cheat fly mod speed faster, .cheat land with mod speed slower, .cheat god .invisible (Falling + Enemies on ground), npc delete (If mobs are too close to area and aggro)

Info: Learn .worldport, worldporting into small holes to fix tables helps not deleteing a whole row. also to align some elevators while underground (Ones that go as low as your point, or ones that just arn't that relative to your position)

Info: Test all the Mesa elevators, some have diffrent placments like bottom is your feet, top is your feet, middle of length is your xyz ect.

Orientation: With Mesa and the Mechanical the way you are facing actually matters, try to postion yourself so that the light on he mechanical elevator isnt facing where peple get on (It may knock them off) or that to mesa elevators dont have poles facing the entrance.

They gotta GO: Elevators do not stop at anything. They will go straight through the gorund and any other GO (Except other elevators, they get stuck together and need to be deleted). Characters will move with the elevators anywhere BUT through the ground.

SS being added later but I made a fort with no entrance in dalaran. There were stairs to the top and a elevator that's highest point was the top. Characters could go on the elevator to phase
down through the GOs into the fort and the elevator would continue to fall through the ground untill reseting.

The big platform is actually made of nothing but tables :P

.cheat fly, hold down right click button, move to the left of right, and spam the macro button for spawning tables. Just align yourself for every row and it looks perfect.

nice post i love doing this only i normaly use crates its fun to make a big stairway in the sky and add buildings and hallways at the top like a hotel =P

i did the stairs thing but i tried to make an elevator in the middle (in the air) i delted it and made more stairs but now the table has become an elevator ( looks like a table but just acts like an elevator) . help?
