    Wrong recipient mail cod scam

    just thought of this fella so it is untested but the logic is sound.

    Write a nice letter something like this

    Dear Fred,

    Thanks a lot for your help on our guild raid last night. i really appreciated you coming and helping our fledgling guild down our first bosses in MC.

    please find enclosed the MEGA EPIC ITEM you wanted and as a thank you I wont accept more than (25% of its real value) from you.

    i hope you will joijn us again sometime if you you are available and we need you.

    Thanks again

    birt

    so what you do is send to target but write the body of the text as though it is meant for someone else. ie, the letter is sent to SCAMTargt with Dear someone else in the body of the letter itself.

    You wrap a flint in wrapping paper and send the whole think cod for say 25-50% of what the item would sell for in the AH.

    The target is led to believe you ****ed up and sent the letter to the wrong person 9ie Them0 instead of the person whose name is mentioned in the actuial letter.

    their greed get s the better of them and they pay for the item via the cod process.

    again this is only going to work in a certain percentage of cases but if you picked a well know char from your server to mention in the body of the letter some people will def fall for this.

    Send a lot of them out

    Ive done this and recived a 72 hour ban, and im pretty sure ive read of others

    doing it also, I dont remember if they said they were banned or not.

    Its definitly a good idea though I made 2800g from doing some similar letters.

    I wish you couldnt be banned for this we could all be rich

    how can you say it doesnt work on your server ? Have you sent this exact mail to every single person on your server ? I dont think so !

    Cummon man think about what you are saying.

    If you send 20 letters and got no hits say so.

    There is absolutely no reason why this wont work on every server , becasue it is dependany on the behaviour of players not differences between servers.

    Re: Wrong recipient mail cod scam

    A way to (maybe) avoid a ban is to send a mail as soon you get the money with the text:

    Dear Fred,

    So you fell for it. Haha!!!!! That was for the time where you pulled down my pants in public!

    Joe

    (The text above was a idea i got from a reply in the "Birthday Scam" post)

    Re: Wrong recipient mail cod scam

    I'm just trying out a possible wicked combination of scams here...just sent ten of them to see how it goes.
    Basically the way it works is this;
    Do a /who for guildless hunters (botters basically is what we're after)
    Then Gift Wrap a nice [Flint & Tinder] for them
    Okay now do the above post, mine looked like this;

    Subject: Giantstalker Bracers

    Hi,

    Enclosed are the Bracers from Saturday's MC run.
    <Player Name>couldn't afford them in the end. I've CoD'd them to you for the agreed 100g.
    Don't complain, they go for 250g at the AH.
    Hope to see you this weekend again,

    <Player name>
    <Guild>
    First to kill Kel Thuzad!

    P.s Hope I spelt your name right lol

    Basically make the letter friendly but stay a bit arrogant (the guilds on my server do the whole "buying epics" thing). It won't look out of place, it's a "bargain", and best of all the mark is a botter anyway so won't complain to Blizz

    Will report back on it's success as soon as I know!

    P.s Should've added that I used that guild's GM name but added a crafty accent over a vowel
