Compiling Ascent

Lemme start off by saying that if you have no programming experience at all, then this guide isn't for you. In fact, if you have no programming experience DONT RUN A WOW SERVER. There are to many servers as it is, keep it to the serious WoW emulators who actually contribute rather than leech off of other peoples compiles and use repacks.
(repacks are for n00bs and potty trainers)

First off, there are going to be some tools needed.
Those will include:

• Microsoft Visual C++ (either 2003, 2005, or 200

• TortoiseSVN (to download the latest ascent source)

• Microsoft Windows SDK (contains headers, libs, misc)

Links to stuff
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition
Turtoise SVN
Microsoft Windows SDK

Install all of those things.
Make sure you set the environment variable for the windows sdk or this wont work.


Then next, you have to download the sourc its finished, there should be a new directory in your ascent folder called bin, containing your compiled files.
