about trading (if it's not allowed)

Hey i'm just wondering, i saw on another forum about 'not using rep for trading, use traderep instead' but can you trade someone something for +rep? I'm just wondering because I can't find anywhere for rules on stuff like this.
I saw someone say something liek if you did a trade eg. money for gold, 'you could use +rep if you want, but don't use it as a 'good trader or outstanding seller' etc., but what im wondering if i can just trade something (what i want to trade is a 48 hour trial for a website) for +rep (not +traderep), or if that's bannable/not allowed.
