How specific is the combat log?

Just wondering how specific the combat log is. For example, with Malkorok, would the combat log tell you where the purple void zones have been placed? Or which direction his arcing smash is facing?

Or is this something I would need to somehow get from memory?

The combatlog doesnt provide position data, see UNIT_SPELLCAST_SENT - World of Warcraft Programming: A Guide and Reference for Creating WoW Addons or UNIT_SPELLCAST_SUCCEEDED - World of Warcraft Programming: A Guide and Reference for Creating WoW Addons

There are some Addons which try to calculate those positions (Malkorok Helper - Boss Encounters - World of Warcraft Addons - Curse), but they arent realy accurate. You have to adjust the right positions realy often by hand.

You can only get such information from memory. It's not exposed through API.
