    DBC-noob questions

Just want to know the basics of DBC files.
    1. What can you do with them?
    2. Is it bannable?
    3. How...?

    Re: DBC-noob questions

Im pretty tired of everything always asking "Is this bannable?" Everything on this entire site is bannable. Hell, blizzard could ban you for whatever they want, you agreed to their Eula.

Also, you can edit lots of things like Zep or Boat paths and stops, Item and mob looks(for multitextured things) and area names, so that when you walk into Ironforge it appears as Lagforge or whatever you name it to.

It's a bit too lengthy to say, but the jist of it is for items, you get the item data from another section of the DBC files and move it to the one you want to change. Mobs the same way, and zeppelin paths, you edit the coords of the path.

There are many guides in the model editing section, in particular, I suggest you check out the GM Island 1.12 thread. ( read it all too, every single page. There's a nice little walk through around page 10 though.)

... Theres an extremely small chance to get banned for anything but serious PVP exploits, hacking, or scamming... But yes, the GMs do what they want, but most are nice...

How likely is it to get banned from doing it?
