2v2 Arena team

Well my arena team sucks right now and I am a mage. I was wondering what the best partner for me would be.

Nope :P I have a 2v2 team with my friend(Frostmage) we have decent rating (1.7k)

Mage + Healer is worthless. If you want to break 1800 rating then don't match up with another frost mage. Spec deep frost with 17 in Arcane and pick up a Feral Druid as a partner - and by feral druid I mean a druid that goes cat and knows how to play.

Your basic setup will be sheep healer (unless it's again a resto druid combo) and focus on the DPS class he's with. Druid stealths out the gate and you invis out, druid will target the healer, you assist him to target, get ready to sheep, the druid pounces the DPS class and then starts work on him while you pop out of invis and sheep. DPS + burn them down, when the DR on Sheep starts to wear (after about three sheeps or two and a trinket) then call out for the druid to cyclone. If it's a pally and he bubbles have the druid shift out, war stomp and cyclone the DPS class and then go travel, and LOS him around either pillars (Nagrand and BE) or back in your starting room. Mage should blink, get out of combat, and evo at this time if it's up. Druid should have only used travel to get out of range, and then stayed cat and stealthed to make sure healer/caster dps doesn't drink. Repeat the process and kill the DPS and you win.

Against a two DPS team then you're going to want to sheep whichever one can CC - if it's a mage/warlock team then sheep the mage and cyclone the lock, while he's cycloned start work on his pet, if you kill the pet then move onto the lock, which if Soul Link should have lost most of his strength, if he summons another pet /w Fel Dom don't be afraid to sheep lock and cyclone mage to kill the pet. Frost Mage/Feral Druid just owns - make sure your feral druid shifts out to tranq whenever someone drops below 50%, especially if it's him, or you have to block to stay up.

I am in a 2v2 consisting of a warlock and a shadow priest. We do ok, but I agree with Poker, we get owned buy mage feral druid combos.

Problem comes up, if you focus fire the mage the druid heals him, and if you focus fire the druid the mages sheeps one and burns down the other.

Mage and UA lock are pretty deadly, except if you come up against a warrior/pally team... then it could prove to be somewhat of a challenge.

Frost Mage and a Unstable Affliction Warlock, without a doubt.

A well skilled good geared rogue will get you up to 1700 if you have decent pvp gear (10k hp) (270 + res) if not then i would say 1600 am at 2226 whit mine atm

Depends on what kind of mage you are.

Though from my experiences, if you are good, Shad Priest + Mage is deadly when played right.

This coming from ~2200 rating 2v2, ~2000 rating 3v3 and ~2050 5v5.

Your best bets.

Warlock team has a lot of Damage over Time and has the ability to CC two people. That mixed with burst and the other utilities warlocks get, it works out.

Shadow Priest team has an insane amount of burst, and if your priest is good, his HoT's can help you alot with his damage, and he can switch out and heal, and Silence and Fear.

Enhancement shaman team is good. It is probably the best burst out there, with shocks that the shaman has, and improved counterspell mixed with frost and water elemental, good luck getting any heals off. With two good snares like frost shock and frost bolt, kiting is down to a minimum, and you still have one CC. Not to mention the fact that shamans and mages are getting buffed.

I have a Mage / Enhancement Shaman team and we're at 1867 rating, easily.

Their really isn't a "Best partner" it depends on gear and skill : )
I've done really good with 2 mages, me and a ele shaman
the best 2v2 expierence i had was with a lock
