Turning raids into instances?

Can you turn raids in to instances? If so how do you do it?

not sure how to turn raids into instances short of messing around in the database, but if ur only purpose for waning to do so is if u can enter alone a s a gm or something, then u could do what i did:

make a 2nd account
log it on as well as the main one (so u have 2 instances of wow running on 1 pc)
have the gm char party the other char
convert to raid
and then enter the raid with ur gm char while other char is still chilling in the starting zone

*note even if the 2nd char dc's it allows u to continue to solo the raid because it assumes they are going to log back in, and it seems the only important thing about having a party so u can convert to raid is to enter the raid itself.
