Path of Exile Ranger Build as a Tank

Ranger is a flexible class in POE; we can see from the passive skill tree that Ranger is a class based on one-hand weapon such as bow. But elemental damage can also be added in the skills. Under this situation, most players choose the builds with totem, trap, melee damage and reflected physical damage. We will discuss a build tends to be like a tank, wish it is useful to you.

This build doesn't need advanced path of exile items., the items with 4L would be enough. And from the experiment, it is suitable to solo and teamwork. And if you want to be a tank in the team, you need the unique bow Darkscorn.


When you see the unique attribute 25% of physical damage take as chaos damage, you must know you need to use the skill Poison Arrow here, and about the support gems, you can use added chaos damage, Chain, Elemental Proliferation, Faster Attacks and Increased Area of Effect (you can choose those according to you own condition. )

Another skill I use here is Viper strike, this is a skill used on BOSS, and it can be used with Bear Trap, thus you can have a higher individual damage.

Use the Vulnerability as your curse damage; it can be used to increase the attack of the enemy on every aspect. This build values the 40% enforced damage. The level up of this skill is mainly used to increase the duration time and area of the curse. And it won't be leveled up anymore when it comes to the duration time of 9 seconds to 10 seconds. Then you can use the temporal chains to increase the duration of the DOT to 50%.

The auras are needed as a Tank, you can use Purity, Vitality, Determination, Grace and Haste here.

The requirements for the links of the items:
We just need green + red sockets in the Silver branch, and we can put poison arrow + increased duration here. And we suggest a three links here; you can add the blind or chance to flee in the third socket. And the DOT effect will be really shock after you add it.


As for your one-hand sword or shield, you need green + red sockets as well, use viper strike + increased duration here. And if you have a third hole, you can put faster attack or additional accuracy there, or you may use chance to flee just for fun.
