Help with a Program {noggit}

hi, i know this thread is either, in the wrong section,a banned substance or this kinda thread has been posted way to many times or whatever, but i was wondering. does anyone know how to actually get the map editing program noggit working?, every single time i try it either goes horribly wrong by opening and then a split second later whith no warning, closing, or an error popping up saying it had to terminate in an unusual way, can anyone actually help me get it working?

note: i don't want to use it hack unfairly in Battle Grounds i just want to use it to modify my really old private server for fun, i am using the 1.12.x noggit version.

[sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, but i am a newb [this is my first post] and have tried searching every aspect of the word noggit possible to find anything]
