PimpMyGuide Hacked!

Just went to PimpMyGuide to find it had been hacked and defaced! Pretty funny IMO that a big site like that can't secure their servers.

Interesting find! Not that it's surprising. Their guides were garbage, and I'd imagine their security was less than stellar.

There site didnt get hacked, just the front. I talked to hero on msn he couldnt get me the guides and she because he says they have them all stored in a shell and he doesnt have access.

your frontpage doesnt just become the only thing that gets hacked, if you hack the frontpage you have root.. and if you have root.. you have everything else.. he prolly has a backup.. and if he does, why is it taking more than 1 hour to fix?

And matt, sometimes the place where the files are stored are on a different server to where the website files are stored. He may have only hacked one server.

But i don't figure that pimpmyguide has more than 1 server...

And if they got their server owned.. They could simply just call up their dedicated server technicians and ask them to go to a backup... But any deface where the site is still defaced after 12+ hours shows.. a newb.

I checked google dance (latest google crawlings) for defaces by Her0.. didnt see any..
Pimpmyguide doesn't have any good stuff.. But if you see something they have that we don't post it up.

I wouldn't take an account of admin from them, it could get you arrested. Your IP could be traced and you could get in big trouble.. They will eventually get the site back. Hero proberbly is either using a public computer or an IP changer (A VERY good one.)
