[Hack] Tranfering between mapIDs by hacking?

    Hey all,

I just have a quick question, and I don't even know if it is possible to do this since I haven't seen anything posted on it anywhere. Is it possible to somehow hack and teleport between mapIDs or is that strictly server based? I remember reading somewhere that you could trick the server into zoning you somewhere else if you go into an instance. Let say you run into the Hellfire Ramparts instance, and you direct the transfer to Emerald Dream.

Just curious because I know you can teleport on the same mapID, but I have never been able to teleport to another mapID.

    Thanks!

Isn't this sort of how people used to make the zeppelin go to GM island?

Yes, that's kind of what I was thinking. Although, when I say strictly server based I mean you would get Transfer Arborted: Instance Not Found or something along those lines... heres an example:

    Scenario 1
Client: On the zeppelin to Grom'Gol from Orgrimmar
Server: Ok, client is on zeppelin to Grom'Gol from Orgrimmar
Client: Sending request to zone into mapID 169: The Emerald Dream
Server: Wait, Grom'Gol is not on mapID 169, it is on mapID 1, therefore I will not allow the client to zone into 169, I will give error message
    Client: Received error: Transfer Aborted

    Scenario 2
Cleint: Wants to enter Stormwind Stockades
Server: Ok request granted, teleporting to Stockades
Client: Wants to zone into mapID 169
Server: Wait, client wants to zone into mapID 169, but Stockades is mapID 34, sending error message to client
    Client: Receives error: Transfer Aborted

This is what I would assume would happen, since most of these are server-sided checks to make sure the client is not zoning into a zone they are not supposed to go into.

The following is based on live servers:

There was a security exploit years ago which allowed you to change some sort of permission flag upon login, after that you could bypass area trigger range checks and trigger anything from anywhere.

Also in WotLK before Ulduar came out it was possible to use worldport and whois on ptrs (probably more opcodes which are not in the client as well )

    As to private servers:

Private servers don't implement permission opcodes at all. The server doesn't handle them (maybe worldport and whois but not more).

The only way is to trick the client into thinking you are on a different map, through changing DBC data such as a taxi path or by using manual memory editing (and so on). However, the server does not accept these changes, thus you end up with a sandbox.

There is no way to trick the server into thinking you are on a different map. You can trick it into thinking you are at different coordinates on that map, but not the actual map ID change.

    Speak for yourself.

OT: I believe the world transfer is client-side only, but you get added to the map as an object by the server.
You would need help from someone who knows about memory editing more than me though.
