    [Guide] Helmet Fixing

    Tools needed:
    MyWarCraftStudio [Download v0.9]

    Start by clicking on the folder icon

    Select common.mpq and open it

    go to ITEM -> ObjectComponents -> HEAD

    RaidWarrior_A_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Warrior T1
    RaidWarrior_B_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Warrior T2
    RaidWarrior_C_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Warrior T3
    RaidWarrior_D_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Warrior T4 = Warrior Arena S1
    RaidWarrior_E_01 (located in patch.mpq) -> Warrior T5 = Warrior Arena S2
    RaidWarrior_F_01 (located in patch.mpq) -> Warrior T6

    RaidPriest_A_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Priest T1
    RaidPriest_B_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Priest T2
    RaidPriest_C_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Priest T3
    RaidPriest_D_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Priest T4 = Priest Arena S1
    RaidPriest_E_01 (located in patch.mpq) -> Priest T5 = Priest Arena S2
    RaidPriest_F_01 (located in patch.mpq) -> Priest T6

    RaidHunter_A_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Hunter T1
    RaidHunter_B_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Hunter T2
    RaidHunter_C_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Hunter T3
    RaidHunter_D_01 (located in common.mpq) -> Hunter T4 = Hunter Arena S1
    RaidHunter_E_01 (located in patch.mpq) -> Hunter T5 = Hunter Arena S2
    RaidHunter_F_01 (located in patch.mpq) -> Hunter T6

    etc..

    BeM -> Blood Elf Male
    BeF -> Blood Elf Female
    DrM -> Draenei Male
    DrF -> Draenei Female
    DwM -> Dwarf Male
    DwF -> Dwarf Female
    GnM -> Gnome Male
    GnF -> Gnome Female
    HuM -> Human Male
    HuF -> Human Female
    NiM -> Night Elf Male
    NiF -> Night Elf Female
    OrM -> Orc Male
    OrF -> Orc Female
    ScM -> Undead Male
    ScF -> Undead Female
    TaM -> Tauren Male
    TaF -> Tauren Female
    TrM -> Troll Male
    TrF -> Troll Female

    Scroll down to the helmet you want to fix and select your race (I take Human Male for example)

    Right click -> Copy Treepath

    Select the race you modelchanged into (I take Orc Male for example)

    Right click -> Extract File To...

    Save it

    Pack -> Create MPQ Archive

    Are you sure to close current archive -> ok

    name the new MPQ: patch-#.mpq (# = a-z 3-9) (for example: patch-a.mpq)
    Save it

    Pack -> Add file to archive...

    Click on the [...]

    Select the file you extracted and open it

    Mark the text and press CTRL + V (or rightclick -> paste)

    ok

    It should look like this now

    Pack -> Save and Close Archive

    If you can't find your helmet in common.mpq look for it in patch.mpq !

    Questions & Answers

    • Q: Is there anything i have to do with the file i saved?
    • A: Put it in World of Warcraft\Data and rename it to patch-a.mpq (where a is 3-9 or a-z).

    • Q: How i fix the helmed of my broken draenei? Cant find it in the list.
    • A: Since the broken are not able to wear helmets normally you'll have to choose a helm-type that is matching better than yours. Try Draenei or Tauren.

    • Q: When I open the file for the Helm [xy] it's just a set of glowing eyes.
    • A: That is a bug when mWCS renders the model. See below for hints on that.

    • Q: Does this work for non-tiered helms too?
    • A: Yes it does. Just find the right model.

    • Q: Is it possible to fix feets too with this guide?
    • A: No, its not. Search the Guides-Forum for that guide.

    Additional Information

    • A suggestion for those that have problems identifying which asdf_a_e_2352 happens to be your helm, download "WoWModelViewer" [Download v0.5.09] and get the updated items (meaning it includes t6 etc). Using that program to find your helm's ID is much quicker because they are all in 1 list as opposed to being spread out over 3-4.
    • Many of the objects selected in MyWarcraftStudio turn out as bugged images. WoWModelViewer is able to render those correctely.
    • Also lookup other archives than common.mpq! Also check patch.mpq and patch-2.mpq for newer files!
    • Always get the newest version of myWarcraftStudio: MyWarCraftStudio Development History - 平民程åº? - linghuye's blog - ITå?šå®¢ç½‘

    Re: [Guide] Helmet Fixing

    Hey, thank you very much for the guide. But I still have one problem which is the helmet I have currently is not tiered one but it has the same t5 model. And I tried to fix it with t5 model and obviously it doesn't work and I can not find my helmet's model in WoWmodelviewer nor mywarcraftstudio.

    Could you tell me if you have any way that can solve this ?

    The helmet name is Cowl Of The Grand Engineer btw and it has the same model as Tier5 mage helmet.

    Re: [Guide] Helmet Fixing

    I fixed many helms with this guide but suddenly it no longer works. (as of the latest patch, 2.2.3) for me.

    Does it still work for you?

    Re: [Guide] Helmet Fixing

    I've been looking around on the forums but while theres a lot of race conversion guides and helm-fix guides, I can't seem to find a guide to do Face Fixes, is this possible?
