Identifying Profles

I'd like to know how the fun loving folks that do it..are able to identify the origin of profiles & whether they'll work with..oh I dunno LazyBot ;-)

I've been perusing that section looking to put together a preferred compilation for myself & I see a lot of..

This was made for --Insert Bot Here-- & may possibly work once converted..not likely well if at all though

This was made so long ago it won't work with the current version of --Insert Bot Here--

How is it you're able to discern that? Is it complicated the way a mechanic knows a car..a pilot knows a plane?

Ooor is there an uneducated way I could figure it out for myself too by looking into the profiles I download..

Just open up the profile in an editor, say notepad, most bots have a distinct design they use.
e.g
Honorbuddy looks like this
