Notification tool for items drops?

Hey there,

i'd love to have some sort of tool that alerts me if i got a specific item drop. Let's say i want to get notified, if i get a 1h blue with at least 800dps. Is it possible to read the memory area of items drops and evaluate its contents? If so, where would i start? Haven't programmed in some time but i'd really love to get into it again if it makes my farming runs a little more convenient.
