What is the best way to make diablo 3 take less cpu usage?

Well if you're using vmware you could technically lower the resolution to the minimum of the bot.
Also could lower the ram / other settings of the vmware itself to what the minimum is needed for d3.

Besides that theres the D3Prefs.ini that you may be able to edit.

thats in Documents\Diablo III\ and could most likely be used to lower some settings, I haven't personally done it so I can't be sure there.
