Wizard Familiar and Town Portal

Found this neat little trick today, not sure if it's on here(couldn't find it in searches) but here it goes!

Seems that if you have a wizard and use the Familiar ability to have the little pet following you around, if you hit "T" for town portal it will cause your pet to shoot. It's not super amazingly useful but the only thing that is really cool about it is the fact that it will shoot and it won't stop you from running - could be somewhat useful for kiting (Yes there are better ways).

If you really need step by step instructions here:
1-be a wizard
2-summon your Familiar
3-run around pressing T

Note: This will not work in town since you can't use TP in towns.

This is worthless, it will only aim in the direction you are running. Not worth trying to kite with it because you might as well cast a spell and the Familiar will go off also.

Yup, was thinking the same. Although I've noticed this over a week ago on my wizard but thought it was to small to post. Still at least you try.

I like this, many endgame builds don't have a signature spell or only like archon / hydra / blizzard or something. This allows you to do simple shit such as crush crates or barricades without spending 60 energy doing so!

Don't worry "just trying to contribute" is a lame excuse, this is relatively useless. Unless OP puts a video up showing how super amazing his 180°+T skills are, you're right. I've messed around with it before and could not get a feasible result.

Im afraid I gotta agree that its fairly useless...I noticed this not long after I got the familiar, but as stated it only shoots where you are facing, so if you are gonna shoot something like this, you might as well use a spell...its fun to make it pew pew on command though

I'd say it's just a bug, wouldn't even go as far to call it exploit since there is no use for it. but contribution is still contribution, It's better if you keep looking for something than just leach +Rep

It's actually quite useless, familiar damage is pretty irrelevant end game.

Why wouldn't you use a signature spell? If you're stacking IAS, the blizzards/hydras are just for kiting purposes. Signature spells are where a huge amount of your damage comes from.

I dont see the OP saying "just trying to contribute" anywhere in his post. Do you? So how you came by this being a lame excuse I have no clue. Fact is that he found something that isn't working the way it's supposed to be and cared enough to mention it here. If members like you keep reacting the way you do, I'm sure lots of more exploits will be posted in the future. Is it really so hard to give someone just a little bit positive feedback? To encourage him to keep going and hopefully find something more useful instead of burying him 6 feet under straight away?
