    [Diablo3] Reverse-Engineering MPQ game files

    I realize that this is the "Memory Editing" forum, but I couldn't find a better place to post this.

    I have been working on reverse-engineering several of the game files located in the Diablo 3 MPQs. Specifically, I have spent a lot of time looking into the \GameBalance\Item*.gam and AffixList.gam files. I am also working on the ItemDropTable.gam as well as the \TreasureClass\*.trs files. One of the things I want to be able to do is generate a list of changes based on the diffs in a given patch file. I already have all of the MPQ extraction/patch code written and I have this working for the StringList files, but those aren't terribly interesting from a game perspective.

    Before I post my findings I wanted to be sure that the forum mods are ok with me posting this here, and that the community is willing to collaborate on this effort.

    Thanks. Started the discussion in a new post to keep things clean. The first post just lays the groundwork for MPQ file processing, but I will have more detailed posts coming in the next couple of days.
