I will try my best to update this as soon as it happens, but i have real life and work, so it may be delayed a few hours.
Minecraft Client (1.8.1): Instant Download (.jar)
Minecraft Server (1.8 )(Works with the 1.8.1 client, but you will need to update your HD Graphics): Instant Download
After you install, and run your server for the first time, in the folder will be a file named server.properies open with any notepad like software. I use notepad++
For anything that says TRUE or FALSE, keep them that way. If you want to switch, put the opposite term. DO NOT PUT YES NO, will not work
1. level-name this is basic, its the name of your world.
2. allow-nether this allows the other world to be used, (after a OP spawns the Netherportal)
3. view-distance this is how far a player can see, i would recommend keeping it at a max of 10, with 1.8 the world seed's have created vast worlds that take alot of rendering
4. monsters-spawn this will allow monsters (creeps, spiders, etc) spawn at nighttime. If you are looking for a relaxed server, put false
5. online-mode if this is false, you can only access it using the realmid as localhost, this is good if you need to make some changes with no one on.
6. difficulty this is how hard the monsters hit. 0-3, 0 being peaceful, 3 being hard
7. gamemode 0 is normal, 1 is creative
8. spawn-animals this will spawn your ducks, cows etc
9. max-players how many players you want on your server at one time
10. server-ip the ip of your server (if using hamachi leave blank)
11. pvp if you want the ability to kill other players without lava, make true
12. level-seed if you have a specific map you want to play, and not have one generated, put it there
13. server port leave it as it is, if changed it will be a long and difficult process for others to connect again
14. allow-flight allowing people to fly (if your in creative mode, this doesnt matter it will automatically by-pas this)
15. white-list tracks logs of the server
16. Motd a new feature released in 1.8 that allows messages to be displayed on servers
A great way to have a minecraft server with friends is hamachi, it saves you from forwarding ports, and allows you to keep only who you want to access your server. Hamachi <-- Click to download
1. After downloading hamachi it will always be in that corner, no need to search to activate, and if chosen it will always start on computer start, so you never have to worry about anything
2. When it opens up it should look something similiar to this, you will have to create or join a network, but it will look like this, just with your name, and your ip.
3. When creating a network, make sure you remember the password, the name will always be available to see, but the password you will not, its as simple as typing them in and creating.
4. After creating your network, be sure to tell your friends the information for the network, then the number highlighted is the number they will need to type into their server address, like shown below.
5. Enjoy playing with friends, have tons of fun, and for you the server host to personally connect, just put localhost
