Ideas on downloading Diablo 3 Beta:
So after watching the videos on the [official] leak of diablo 3, it got me thinking.. if this stuff is on the web (as he was using a launcher to download it) then there MUST be a way to get our hands on the files early to data mine (even if we can't play). That is assuming this video wasn't recorded on-site at blizzard.
Okay, so where does blizzard host it's downloads?
Using battle.net I've gathered a collection of places and I'll do my best to walk everyone through what I've been doing so far but atm I'm stuck :/
ftp.blizzard.com - /pub/
http://eu.media.battle.net.edgesuite...-Installer.exe
https://eu.battle.net/account//manag...B&platform=win
https://eu.battle.net/account/downlo...B&platform=win
First of all I tried searching through the public ftp directory (didn't think I'd have any luck) and I didn't find anything Diablo 3 related.
I then tried using the second link I've listed assuming that since it doesn't use https that the server can be accessed without a battle.net login, however I've had no luck accessing the ftp servers from eu.media.battle.edgesuite.net...
The third and fourth links are kind of grouped as to where they download from, the only thing that changes is "download-wow-client" to "download" in the URL bar.
Checking the source of the battle.net game pages I've found a diablo 3 directory to start in
so I then tried various combinations of https://eu.battle.net/account/downlo...B&platform=win
changed platform to mac and trying different languages (heard somewhere that there was a family alpha release in Russia and Korea or something).
after watching the video for any more hints on the download link I noticed that the region was "PTR"
So then tried https://eu.battle.net/account/downlo...B&platform=win
and it threw an error at me
So that's where I am now... I still need to look through the d3 javascript file and see if I need to have certain cookies to download or whether or not I need to have a battle.net account with access to the download. Help/Ideas would be appreciated.
some more maybe useful stuff:
version is 0.2.0.7200 BETA
"show d3" doesn't throw an error
