STEAM Requests Leniency on Microsoft's XBOX Live

As we all know, Microsoft has XBOX Live on a very strict guideline as to who can access it and who they wish to extend it to. One game supplied/company that has stepped up to the plate and requested leniency is STEAM. Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has high hopes to bring XBOX Live into the Steamworks, as there are many titles and customers that would benefit from this integration. Some of the benefits named were free downloadable content or DLC, as well as allowing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on the XBOX Live network. Here is a quote from Gabe Newell what STEAM/Valve has to offer Microsoft/XBOX Live:

"We certainly can deliver a lot of value to customers to the degree to which we have those capabilities," Newell told Eurogamer. "The PS3, obviously, we made a lot of progress with that. The PS3 customers of Portal 2 are going to start to see the benefits of that with DLC coming out in September. So we'd really like to be able to do that for Xbox customers as well.
"The main thing is having Microsoft get comfortable with it and let us do it," he continued. "Right now, there's a huge amount of updates and free content that we've been able to deliver to people who have The Orange Box that we haven't been able to deliver to the Xbox because of the restrictions that have been placed on us on Xbox Live.
"We'd love to see those relaxed. Hopefully that will help Microsoft see that's a good strategy for making customers happy, that the barbarians won't tear down the walls of Xbox and turn it into some chaotic wasteland."
There has been multiple requests from various developers to allow more freedom with XBOX Live, but Microsoft has always given a swift hand of justice to any offer on the table. Will they change their ways for CS: GO? Microsoft's arrogance has prevented games from being released for XBOX 360, games such as: Final Fantasy XIV. A highly reputable developer wasn't allowed the opportunity to release a highly anticipated game because Microsoft won't budge with third party opportunities. It isn't all bad, as you can see XBOX Live hasn't really had any major problems like PSN faced, and not allowing third parties might allow for less difficulties.

There is definitely hope for Microsoft's XBOX Live since there has been speculation of allowing developers with the prospect of microtransaction support. That would allow for free to play games on the network, maybe that's a sign of easing up on their policies? To our dedicated readers, what do you think? Will Microsoft ease up? Any speculations of whats to happen in the future with STEAM being a popular service, as well as XBOX Live? Thanks for reading.
