No DOTA 2 til 2012?

From the rumors that others have posted on OwnedCore that the beta testing will begin soon, the release of Defense of the Ancients sequel is probably not going to happen until next year as GameSpot has reported. They promise a full interview with Valve's Gabe Newell soon, but at the moment they say "As for the not-so-good news, Valve has said that it is looking increasingly unlikely that DOTA 2 will see wide release in 2011, as was originally planned. Speaking to GameSpot, company cofounder and managing director Gabe Newell said DOTA 2 is now expected to be available in early 2012."

I don't know about you but it was pretty clear to me that DOTA 2 would be released in 2012. Is this new information? If so, then my friend might know more than I'm aware of lol.
