AFK safely without getting Booted - no 3rd party app needed

This should be useful for those of you who play on full servers with long queues still, or those on PvP servers that want to take a break without getting ganked.

Log out by hitting the escape key and then log out button.
While the timer is ticking down just alt+tab and your character will be connected to the server but you won't be moved to the character selection screen. You will be in transition to the character selection screen and be in a state of limbo. This way you won't get booted by just sitting at the character section screen for a long period of time. Enjoy!

PS: You might have to alt+tab out and back in if the loading screen is stuck to fully log back into the game.

.... and if you are not worried about getting ganked or are on a PVE server. Just alt-tab out while in-game, you go afk but never get disconnected, occasionally it may crash after spending a few hours away.

Generally though you come back, alt-tab back in and there you are, exactly where you were when you left.

No, you do not, atleast I do not, maybe my client is 'special' (no, it is not)

Watched 2 movies while Rift had me standing at Denegar's lastnight, came back, alt-tabbed back in, still there..

My advice.. Try it

Edit: FYI while I was eating breakfast, reading a book in the 'small room' and browsing the more 'interesting' mmo forums, I was alt-tabbed from Rift. An hour later (now) guess if it was logged out or not when I went back
