Daytime into Night time

Question, Im running a trinity realm 3.3.5 rev: 10540 and im doing a bit of customization here and there and i was thinking about doing something very cool alas i have no idea how to...I wanted to know if anyone knew how to change daytime into night time for a specific map. Lets say for example Gm island. If anyone has a clue that would be great.

I always thought it was handled client side - although I could be wrong. It reads what the server time is then sets the light depending upon that. Which means you would need a model edit.

By model edit you mean map editing ?

trinity handle's this server side not client side

if it was client side then some players have day and some have night .


you can edit the core to edit the time , or simply change the server time to what time u want .

editing the core for that requires research , since i haven't thought about editing time yet

I said the client reads the server time and then changes it client side depending on the time server side... Yes you can change the server time to whatever you want but how to make it zone-only nighttime I don't think is possible without model editing.

By model edit you mean map editing ?

Similar, it's modifying the client basically.

Thanks both of you for helping me out. i think i found a good idea by wanting to do this but its beyond my current abilities to do this...also i wanted to know does gm island change time at all ive never even seen it at night time ? Its like a timeless zone lol.

It does. I don't know where gametime is handled for mangos/trinity but if you were using ArcEmu for example you could just go into the realm configurations and change the timezone to russia or something, then go in game and it would be night.

Or just wait till tonight and then try it.

It is quite frustrating that to do very simple things requires a complex knowledge of programming and how the emulator functions, but this is emulation unfortunately and we don't have professional tools in a nice, user-friendly GUI given to us.
