Now after there dust has settled after the radical changes with the patch to the paladin class, here is a few tips on managing the new resource Holy Power.
Critter Trick:
Yup, Crusader Strike and Holy Shocked critters generate holy power. Dungeons are full of them. Just make sure you don't melee them by mistake.
Prevent Holy power Decay:
Holy power will not decay while you're in combat, so casting Hand Of Reckoning (now a no damage taunt) will put you in combat and the critter will run away instead of chasing you and pulling mobs along the way.
I highly recommend downloading the Power Auras Classic addon and setting it up for showing your holy power.
Here are my three holy power settings ready to be imported:
Version:4.4; b:0.2039; g:0.8392; thresholdinvert:true; icon:Spell_fire_meteorstorm; beginSpin:true; begin:5; bufftype:10; texture:65; isResting:0; inVehicle:0; threshold:1; PowerType:9; size:3.25; torsion:1.01; y:-40; ismounted:0; finish:2
Version:4.4; b:0.2039; g:0.8392; thresholdinvert:true; icon:Spell_fire_meteorstorm; beginSpin:true; begin:10; bufftype:10; texture:66; symetrie:1; isResting:0; inVehicle:0; threshold:2; PowerType:9; size:3.25; y:-40; ismounted:0; finish:2
Version:4.4; b:0.2039; g:0.8392; thresholdinvert:true; icon:Spell_fire_meteorstorm; beginSpin:true; begin:7; bufftype:10; texture:67; isResting:0; inVehicle:0; threshold:3; PowerType:9; size:3.25; y:-40; ismounted:0; finish:2
And i'm going to throw in two tanking settings for..
Sacred Duty:
Version:4.4; b:0.2588; g:0.9843; icon:Ability_Paladin_JudgementRed; buffname:Sacred Duty; r:0.5843; x:-41; texture:177; alpha:1; isResting:0; torsion:1.04; ismounted:0
this will show a red shield on your offhand indicating that your next SotR is a crit.
Holy Shield:
Version:4.4; b:0.0078; g:0; icon:Spell_Holy_BlessingOfProtection; buffname:Holy Shield; texture:7; inverse:true
This will show red teeth on you if you dont have the Holy Shield Buff on.
Enjoy!
