What schooling do I need to know how to make bots/programs?

I want to know how to make bots/programs, programs like myspace friend adder which adds friends instantly, or yahoo answers comment poster, things like that. What kind of classes should I take to learn this exact type of stuff, how to make bots? I don't know if this would be design, computer programming, software engineering etc.
