The Pirate Scam

Very simple, takes a bit of time (a day at the most, an hour at the least).

Idea: You get a letter from Cuergo. Upon opening you see a note and an item with the name of "Cuergo's Hidden Treasure" with a 10 gold COD on it. You take it only to find out its filled with some greys an some ale.

The takedown: Make a toon named Cuergo on your server, if the names taken already (wasn't on mine..) then put an accent mark about the u, e, or o. Go buy (or make) a Cuergo's Treasure Map (wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=9254). I got mine for 1g on the AH. Next complete it, takes about 5 minutes... take the Hidden Treasure, but DO NOT, take everything out of the box. What you leave for your victem is up to you, but there needs to be at least 1 thing in the box still. Send the box to your alt named Cuergo, and put a 10g (or whatever you want..). In the Subject leave the name Cuergo's Hidden Treasure, and attach this into the note:

Ahoy [Victems Name]. I be seein' that ye be havin' found me booty map. Be ye supprised when ye came t' come across thar be nothin' at th` wreck site? Figgures...

I felt bad so me an' th` rest o` me buccanneer buddied be havin' decided t' send ye th` real chest. Oh come on now, nothin' in Azeroth be free! Bah! I be thinkin'.. me buccanneers chest here tookst about a voyage o` work, sailin' through th` Malestrom, an' into th` Twistin' Nether, so th` only fair price I could come across be ten dubloon pieces.

After that, send away and wait for the free gold

So far I've made 10g (only done this once) but its worked and way.. way to easy.
Note: I made up that shity RP story and found some english to pirate (honestly.. who makes these things??) translator... Feel free to edit it however you like.

You do the quest on your level 60 (or whatever for that matter) main.
You then leave 1 item in the box, and sent that to your alt named Cuergo, and then onto your victim. (Or so I believe)

Where do u get the letter, i dont get what u say when u said u just receive the letter from cuegro.

@Janzi9: Yes, and thats why you COD it for 10+ gold... On my server there 1-2 gold, and you can find it yourself within 2 minutes..

@bloodofwar: I was saying that from the person being scammed's perspective. The map you can find, or buy on the AH, and the letter is you write to them is exactly what I said.

Here is another idea, instead of getting the treasure map, you can get wrapping paper, wrap skinning knives and put it in a letter to random people with a name like Easter or Bunny or something, anything at all. Then write up a corney story like this is a gift for easter, but in order to retrieve, you must pay 1g because it is part of a lottery.

I used this method and got 310g, but instead of using the treasure maps I used gift wrapping paper and skinning knives/blacksmith hammers/lowbie greens i had layin around.

It is a real shame that there isnt an in game item like a "steaming pile of baboon **** " or something to cod in wraping paper instead of all these flints and blacksmiths hammers - ah well

There are other similar quests to dovetail into this one.

Can anyone remember what they are / perhaps some at lev 60 where you get sent letters by npcs etc.

There is one for you get from alliance general before you kill blightcaller for example.

Any others people can think of where you get sent a letter sometime after completing a quest ?

i think you could get banned for this... i got a 72 hour suspension just for the Giftwrap CoD mail scam... I even said "Open at your own risk"... i hate blizz
