Using dbc.mpq to make WoW trivial

Is it possible to change things like DurabilityCosts.dbc so you get 1 copper durabilities or Faction.dbc to get exalted with all factions? Make your pet be able to eat all types of food? Give you max resist to all? Make spells instacast? Switch your enchants? This is obviously wishful thinking but if it is able to be done with Zepellin paths(I know theyre partially clientside but maybe these things are too?) then maybe it is able to be done? This is more of a "contribute and post what you found out" thread than "LOLOL HOW I GIT FUL TEER 2 ON MY ROUG" thread.

I believe almost all of that is serverside, but there has got to be more interesting clientside stuff somewhere.

Re: Using dbc.mpq to make WoW trivial

i was fooling around with the dbc files last night. i was actually trying something much less smarter. I was trying to delete a name in the ProfanName.dbc or w/e so i could make a guy named WankingOrc. From what i saw/tried you cant edit/delete them unless you have a special DBC files editor.

There are limitless posibilities with DBC files. Rep, Stats, how 1 Stamina gives 10 health. You could change it so that 1 stamina gives 2000 health. Languages, etc..

Most of that is serverside, you can edit it and it will do nothing.
Like ProfanName.dbc for example, is serverside, so you can edit it, and it still wont let you make the name :P

If you could change rep... that would amazing. CC, Arathor, AV, Warsong, Zandalar Tribe Rep, and even Darnassus rep - everything would be great =P

Re: Using dbc.mpq to make WoW trivial

Yeah I'm trying to figure out the rep but all there is is just numbers, no way to figure out anything Maybe someone who knows more about this can help out? Though I'm pretty sure rep is serverside...(as its part of your character which is stored on the server)but maybe in some way the rep vendors are clientside, so you can buy the rewards ^^

Re: Using dbc.mpq to make WoW trivial

To make it so your client side files get implemented into the server is very very difficult. But it can be done. All of your things including items you own bags ect can be edited. No you will need various program's ect. The only way for it to work is to do the editing during a patching period this meens when everyone is dling the patch ect. It involes hacking the blizzard patch and resetting some things when in the game as well as some gm interaction.

It can be done but it is very hard.

Re: Using dbc.mpq to make WoW trivial

I'm trying different things since everyone knows about DBC editing anyways:P I will post my material unless its extremely good then I'll share with few But if reps not server side, WOW I will jump on that quick.

How about a way to edit the "rested exp" that would make leveling ALT's really easy...(exaustion.dbc)

Well actually that wouldn't work in the slightest.. If you were to hack the blizzard patch that people would be downloading that would only change what everybody would see, but wouldn't affect the data on the actual servers, not to mention all of our account information with our characters and their items are stored in databases which we also don't have access to.

The patching they do to their own servers are on a closed network which we have no access to, so we couldn't touch the server patch in the slightest without actually hacking into a blizzard techs work station, and last time i checked nobody wants to go to jail over some pixels.
