Installing a previous revision of Mangos?

Hey guys, I'm trying to get a patch working that was designed around revision 8983.

Normally when I download the mangos source files I right click on my folder, select "Git GUI" and for the source location I enter: git://github.com/mangos/mangos.git

If I wanted to download the 8983 revision, what should I enter there? I tried putting in the link for the 8983's commit line (not really sure what commit, tree, and parent are.. just trying to get lucky ) but it just hung and said "working".

What should I enter in the source field to get the 8983 revision?

    Thanks everyone!

p.s. After I have 8983, should I patch BEFORE I apply the updates? The patch isn't working with 9110 and beyond I believe.

If you're using tortoise SVN you can select the revision to be downloaded as far as I'm aware. It's normally set to "head revision" Just set it to Revision and type what revision you want.

    git reset --hard <revspec>

where <revspec> can be absolute "link" -- ie. the SHA1 of a commit
or it can be relative, like HEAD~4 (4 revs back), HEAD^^2 (2 revs back to the second merge parent)

So example if you want to revert to 8997 you would use

    git reset --hard c68e603ab7f31abcf87659e78af8362503da4e1a

Thanks Rulebreaker! Resolved it before you posted, but rep none-the-less.

Resolved: Very complex. To me at least. If anyone else ever shares this problem/concern, PM me or email me. I'll try to help you fix it if above suggestion doesnt work.
