this was my first area change and im about to resume editing battlegrounds, but i forgot which programs are needed...

Apps needed for area changing?
If you want to create a very basic area change then you will need MWCS for the extracting, renaming and packing and WoWMe.exe to start the game (both of which can be found on this website). Guides can be found throughout the website. Good luck

hmm mwcs? yeah right i used it to find new tilesets, but which app do i need to read the bg area files themself? cuz i remember the hardest part was to figure out which objects were used in an area, the replacement isnt the hard part

Ok; imo if you want an easy solution to finding which objects are located where (whence ofc mwcs + model viewer have both failed you) you should dl NoggIt. The program is actualy used for more advanced phases of model editing such as world building and terrain editing - however, i'm sure that if you want to find where objects are located in order to swap them with another you can find the object in noggit (when an object is highlighted in noggit it gives you the treepath for that object). Although i've never bothered with BG modding (therefore i've never attempted to locate the treepaths of BG models, therefore causing me to be relatively unsure as to whether you can access BGs in NoggIt, although i'm sure you can) i'm sure NoggIt will be your solution >.> DL it, play around with it, look for BGs etc. If you can't find them then tbh i'm sure that if you thoroughly search via WoWmodelviewer you will be able to find alterac (and other BG) models.
