I always played with French, German etc on my own realm. But I thought if there so willing to come over to the English realms, why don't we go and play with them on their realms?



Before I ventured to the French realms I thought I would try out the French forums first. I always wondered how friendly the staff were on the French side and to be honest they didn’t let me down one bit. They were friendly, helpful and still have that spark in their posts.

Once I had several friendly conversations on the forums I slowly logged on and switched onto one of the French realms. When I logged on, several people greeted me and I felt at home already.


I was amazed about all of this and it suddenly made me think. Perhaps we should be more in connection with the players from the other language realms. We never let language barriers beat us before.

Here's 2 interviews I did on the matter. I chose JD because he is Dutch and I chose Krighter because I knew he had strong views on this topic

Hello JD, What do you think about having all the realms for just one language? Why not 2 or 3 on one realm?

I think it's partially good and partially bad, if you seperate the languages you'll have people that are able to have a conversation in their own language which is easier than to take on a different language. However, you'll never get to know people who are not from the same country as you are.

So perhaps some kind of multi language realms would be good? So you can have the option of speaking more than one language? Ie. Daggerspine= French/English realm. Chamber of Aspects=English realm

It's a desicion that players have to make. If you want to play with all french people then do it. If you wna play with english people, do that

I don't really care to be honest, blizzard should do what they want to do. If dutch realms are needed then they should make them but I don't think they are

well becouse on my realms it is very few lvl 80's. and if everyone was on the same language realms it might get more 80s on other realms so it will be easier to do raids and heroics etc.

I didn't know you where a newsman now and grats on contrib I think... (correct me if I'm completely confused) I think multi language realms would be fine, and would be awesome if someone made a addon translator where u can choose languages.

Crossed over european, it was strange in a fun way. Talking to people, were interesting.. We talked for about an hour and debating. It's a very fun experience, you guys should go try it.

it's a nice idea, but what you seem to have forgotten is not everyone can speak english well, or at all! If that be the case then they would surely have a hard time understanding what to do for their quest, let alone the lore behind the game.
However they could do something like what Aion online did and that is release language patches so that all the content is modified for that language and everyone is still on the one realm.
But personally, I think the current system is the way to go, I can imagine it would be frustrating having trade chat filled with all different people speaking different languages, but maybe that's just me.

I'm a French Canadian and I can tell you I hide it, if I was to say I'm a Frenchie on trade chat for example; I would get flamed by idiots telling me all sort of things starting from ``u dunt noe how 2 play`` to ``we won da war stfu yu fag shit lawl lawl``. So, I don't think making realms support more than 1 language is a good idea knowing A LOT of people would get frustrated not understanding what others say and that's not counting people with different religion and point of view about other cultures/country. Well that's only my oppinion, I'm not saying everybody is racist btw.

I once played on an EU english server, that was full of Italians. No one there talked English. These things are outrageous imo. I leveled my char to 20 when I started noticing.

my brother lvl'd a character there and started to notice after a while that everyone spoke italian. he was even ignored by a few people when he said he only spoke english and swedish. they went "**** u" and then ignored him...
I always go to the realm forums before rolling on any realm now because of retarded servers like that.
