Highlights of the week (6 July 09)

    The Weeks Highlights

This week, has been one of the most fun packed weeks in the last year of WoW. I’ll be doing a brief summary of all the exciting things which have happened over the last few days.

Exodus: The US guild Exodus exploited the Ulduar boss Yogg-Saron to get the world first . The only contact that has been made with the guild was on their website which stated that there members were not suspended which is contrary to what the Blizzard posters are stating. More info from JD here

    Faction switch service:
One of the biggest announcements this week was the upcoming faction switching service. Nethaera stated that “we're developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction “. Many people have been asking, “What will the price be for the faction changing service once it’s released?” Well the true answer is no one knows. This service is most likely going to be a long way off.

Patch 3.2.0: The PTRs have been extremely busy this week, with many people testing out the new battle-ground Isle of Conquest which most people enjoy but some are questioning Blizzard ideas. After all, they only really put AV and SOTA together. Many people have also enjoyed the new cat and bear forms. Though many people in the EU were unable to go on the PTR until later on last week because the battle.net system was not working. I asked many people what their favourite thing in patch 3.2.0 was and many said “The Isle of Conquest”. All of us are finding exploits for the PTR already, some are rather entertaining but sadly many of them will be squashed by the QA of Blizzard before the patches release.

Cataclysm: Earlier this week Blizzard trademarked the word Cataclysm. Blizzard also bought the domain Wowcataclysm.com the instant that the domain expired from the previous owner.Though afterwards it seems that the previous owner renewed his domain. Though many of us are sure Blizzard will use there trade mark to get it back. Blizzard posters have not yet commented on this subject to date. The Cataclysm is related to Maelstrom which gives us the clue that it will most likely be Maelstrom related. Will we be able to make it to the level 100 cap or do you think it will just go up to 90? Could this even be the last expansion for WoW? Well I guess we will have to wait and see.

Well I’ll be bringing you the hottest news next week on MMOwned.
    Have a great week!!!!

Exodus sucks, they lied that they were lucky instead of just saying they used an exploit.

Exodus gets banned for admitting they exploited.
Insidia gets applauded for admitting they exploited.
We know who blizzard's favorite is. And don't give me that "one exploited this and one exploited that way" crap, exploiting is exploiting.

    They didn't buy wowcataclysm.com
It is more likely to be Emerald Dream than Maelstrom.

    why? =P

also cataclysm can be the emerald dream, the cataclysm happened before our current time, could be us experiencing it in the emerald dream, or even an entrie expansion based out of the caverns of time.

besides i can see maelstrom before emerald dream, the game moves by level of who is the most powerful, in vanilla we ahd various spread out forces not strong enough to pull off full fledged attacks -> illidan the man who betrayed the burning legion and took over a world that they had claimed as their own -> arthas the one who defeated illidan in one on one combat.

this leads me to the assumption that the next baddie will be the naga and theyre queens Azshara seeking vengences on the mortal races who left them to rot, which will be folowed by insane druids controlling a world and all that inhabits it after thousands of years of mastering it then becoming insane from the touch of demonic powers entering the realm.

for maelstrom though i see us fighitng the avatar of Sargeras, ghosts of guldan and his armies, fallen nightelves that maiev left trapped in the tomb after she left to chase illidan, maybe a murloc army under the control of queen azshara =P or possibly pandaren going to alliance (caus ally's like furry toons too) and some goblins finally taking onto the horde side after years of them being horde specific npcs. possibly a tide master hero class?

imo a maelstrom expansion is more likley and more avaliable to us at this point in time.

Emilie: No, it's all beneath the skirt.

    Venturer X's Rant about expansions

Be prepared for a nice long read...

With all these expansions coming out year after year...
I could just see it happening in about a 3 years, our level 100s with Tier 14 or Season 16 sets announcing that we soloed Sunwell or some rubbish like that, the fact of the matter is that although we may have spells doing 7k per hit and we having 100k HP warriors, the bosses in BT, Sunwell still have 5,000,000 - 15,000,000 HP and TTYTT, I cant be f***ed to sit there for 5 hours mashing the 2-9 buttons till my fingers are bent just to get the worlds largest ePeen saying " I SOLOED BLACKTEMPLES OMG! BLIZZARD GIEF ME THE WOW EQUIVILENT OF REC0N ARM0Rz!"

I am anything but happy about all these new expansions...

Another point : With our Level 100s what is gonna happen to old content, AQ40 being soloed by Level 80s already, level 100s would make it all to easy... the Lore will just fall apart. Although C'Thun is an OLD GOD, he will be soloable by 1 sturdy adventurer who has the boredom to sit through 1 hour of button bashing while staring at a porno mag. Aren't GODS not meant to die?

If we ever reach Level 110+, what is gonna happen to Yogg-Saron... another solo... here and there. People flying around with 900% flying mounts and Pink-items (Dunno what they would call them), afaic they could call them the Egyptian God Items or Hello Kittys **** items.

Now should Blizz continue churning out Expansions from its corporate anus, what is gonna happen in 18 expansions when (if each expansion raises the level limit by 10) the max level is 260, in P-Servers the max is 255 and thats because of programming. Now I'm sure computing will have advanced past the 255 with our 1024-bit processors and virtual reality (theres a thought for Blizz).

I also think all these expansions are gonna have 2 effects on new players.

1 - They are gonna have to spend so much time to reach Level 90, 100, 110, 255, 999, ∞ that they wont be bothered === Loss of money.

2 - The leveling experience will become so easy for the first 60 levels that they should just scrap Azeroth totally, change all the lore and make Northrend suddenly a floating mass with Emerald Dream hanging over it with the Maelstrom sucking up Outlands every second... OR... have a nice big fat shiny button that says "Create this character at Level 60" or "Create this character at Level 80 with full Tier 9 and legendary weapons"

To conclude, these expansions are becoming a joke, they, if this is true, are planning Expansion No 3 BEFORE EVEN FINISHING NUMBER 2!!!!!!! They haven't even started/finished the Icecrown Citadel Raid with good ol' Arthas and they are starting on a swirling bunch of water with a busted Well of Eternity at the bottom... whoopie.

I am expecting to see this soon :::

i changed my mind i wont quote this too much text lol

well to be honest it is not lore breaking. a lvl 100 adventurer whop has gear dropped from a god who created the universe, killing a god that was born later does fit in. essentially the tale of wow ends in your hero being a god, its typical fantasy ending.

not to mention 40 ppl vs. one god like character killing a god its all the same. the one law of wow lore you SHOULD know is even gods can die, they died in the creation and they die now, gods are beings themselves, they are jsut ascendd, and as your character works theyre way up in life finding more powerful relics you become more powerful yourself.

its in real life too, 10,000 years ago the earth was seen as a god, we grew and advanced, now we are killing it. its all tottaly workable lore its nothing defying. those of you who say "they killed lore" did not read lore, the scourge broke off from the LK in the first palce, why cant the DKS? when ur a lvl one u cant kill c'thun, when ur a lvl 60 u can team up for him, you progres.

not 2 mention there's no word of level caps at 100, or ever at 81 yet. for all you know the new expansion is based on progression via raiding/pvp u need a certain level of equipment to be able to handle the new things.

this game is FAR from dead. 12 million subscribers now, hardcore gaming populatin is smaller tahn the casual gaming pop, when it was pre-bc they ahd almsot no players. they are entertaining the audience taht is willing to pay for the game. while the hardcore gaming comunity sits at the forums yelling at blizzard calling them retards demanding removal of the time card payment....

hardcore gaming is dying accept it, you have been swept aside for a world where social interaction takes precedence. your reign over the gaming world is comign ot an end, the casuals and tourists are coming too power.

    long live the new era!

Well Cataclysm isnt really gonna be related to the Maelstrom since Maelstrom hasnt got anything to offer. Except death in a swriling gigantic pool in which you can find remains of foul magic. :P

Though it is going to be relted to The Well of Eternity, the emerald Dream and stuff like that. :P

    +1 Venturer X )
