programmers isle (portal)?

okay i was playing with mapviewer.. and noticed that on the designers island map there was another peice of land hidden behind the text that you click on to zone into places.. i couldnt click directly onto because of the text infront.. so i zoned in near it and went west for a while until i got there..



when i got there i noticed a portal.. (exact same as the dark portal one)



so.. has anyone tried that portal?

(im assuming programmers isle is old.. ((anyone got there on a live?)))

anyways.. who knows.. it could zone you somewhere.. ED? LOL.. but its worth a try..

Sounds interesting! Gotta try get there and try. Most likely the portal is just a invisible wall with graphs but who knows ^^
Any1 got a good startout point to get there from?

On a private server its there too, but cant go through it.
And Programmer Isle is between the Outland and Azeroth....

been there before. you cant get to the portal there is a invis wall in the way that wont let the camera follow your char. and when you get close you char disapears. if someone could get the camera through the wall you might be able to get close enought.

If u do this on Private Server u will just run threw it and nothing happens its just a Dark Portal test thing they tested,designed and then put in Live Servers

That portal may very well be a trigger to port you somewhere else, except the problem is that you can't get to Programmers or Designers Island on live servers. They're an instance, and you can't get to instances without an area trigger to zone you; of which there isn't one. So you'll not be able to test.

On a private server its there too, but cant go through it.
And Programmer Isle is between the Outland and Azeroth....

Mmm... No it's not. I'm not even sure what you mean. Azeroth and Outlands are two separate places, totally parallel to each other; there is no in between, so there'd be no way to jump.

Sallix, you do know that you could make it work on Private servers? Its people who makes the servers, and then add if that and that should work. They know the deadmines portal will go to the Deadmines, they add that. They might now know where that portal will go, if it will go somewhere, so they dont add it. Private servers is not a good options when wanting to find out if it works on Official servers. Blizzard dont use Mangos, WOWemu, WowwoW, or any emulator wich is out there. I dont think that portal on designers island will work, but if it does... Then why use it? Why risking to get banned by finding a way to get to Designers island, to then go to a portal, go through it, to then get to the place you could get easyer too in Azaroth?

I meant with between Outlands & Azeroth another dimension, cause when I go to programmer island on my private server, I see the map of the Outland left, and the map of Azeroth right, but no me....

I was told it was instanced, so as A_Snake01's said "so there'd be no way to jump." Also think of this; why would blizzard make a portal there? they instanced it as to keep us out, they simply can just teleport there.

/agree i think that they used to test before TBC came out to go to outlands then they blocked the path off when it came out. i dont know why, maybe they knew some people were finding out. or they maybe could have just been ttesting the model just to see how it looks then deleted all the other dark portal models because you dont have to have the dark portal model to get in/out of the outlands. its just like an instance so if you found a randoom trigger to let you go there in programmers isle that let you go to the outlands, then theres your answer. they were just using the model to see how it looks

Why would they put anything there on Programmers Isle? It's fairly likely they put it there for testing purposes. Then again, just because there's a Darkportal there doesn't mean there is a portal trigger there.
