Won't Mysql start? Check this thread for help!

Greetings MMOwned.

It's long time ago since I made a guide so I want make one now

Q: What is this guide about?

A: Have you ever had trouble with the MySQL 5.0.51 ? that it won't start because you're Side-by-side configuration is incorrect? Well this guide is going to help you get it start again!

There is a problem with the Mysqlinstanceconfig.exe in this version of Mysql. If you selected the option to *Configure this instance of Mysql now* and you may noticed that nothing happens. It won't come.

You can easly fix this by doing this:

First Download Resource hacker:

Launch Resource Hacker and Load MysqlInstanceConfig.exe

Launch the program, and from the File menu choose Open.

In the Open dialog, browse to your MySQL installation’s bin directory (Probably C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin), and select MySQLInstanceConfig.exe.


Edit the assembly manifest

In the tree that appears in the left side of the window, navigate to 24 -> 1 -> 1033


On line 6, the assembly manifest specifies that it requires the privilege “asAdministrator”. The actual name of this privilege is “requireAdministrator”.

Change asAdministrator to requireAdministrator.

Next, click the Compile Script button and then choose Save from the File menu.

Exit ResourceHacker.

And it should work!

Here is the Virus scan! This should be free from virus but the Norman at Virustotal says it got something. If the virus/file norman found is danger please tell me ASAP so the admin can delete this guide. Norman found this W32/Smalltroj.KBHZ just check it, and to the admin if this is a serious danger virus, please delete this guide because I don't want to crash other people's computer and other peoples do not download it if it is a danger virus/file I'm not expert at virus but I hope that this is not a danger virus/file I will edit this thread then and say DELETE THREAD if it is danger.

And what do you think about the file/virus norman found isit danger?

No that it's not a danger. Some anti virus programs identifys resource hacking tools, as virus or trojans. Sutch as kaspersky identifys any hack tool your using on computer as a trojan, wich is very annyoing.
But idk i might be wrong!

btw i say b4 about if your MySQL didnt work ? when you uninstall it ? this not remove all file from your pc so, go to c:\programfile then you will fine Dir name is MySQL ( delete it ) then when you start install MySQL ? will be fast and easy so, you can open it without problem
