Another Guild Scam for easy gold

First, look for a player in a guild who has an ' i ' in his name, copy his name (he must be offline!).
Now, create a new char and paste the name but replace the i with an ì. Claim that the char got hacked and Blizzard doesn't want to do anything against it, that's why you created a new char. Tell your guildleader you need like 50g for the beginning and you are fast at leveling and in some days you are lvl. 60 (or whatever) again. Do this with everyone at the same time so that they can't talk with each other about it.

Send the money to your real char and you are a bit richer..

Tried it today .. I know many ppl from guilds that have name's with i ,so i did the weird i(not me ,my friend actually)and started scamming .. From the first guild, best on the server i asked 100-200 g per person and from the GM 300g cos he has hella lot of money ..Yes the GM gave me 300g and 5 of 7 gave me 150 g .. Then i tried other guild.. Earnd 500g from that 1 .. So im 1050 g richer ..

Just do it on a free trial...or can you not send mail/trade with a free trial?
OR here is another way to do this, maybe without getting banned:
Make the new char with the weird i, but instead of whispering the people, send them mail. Then once you get the money delete the character. Dont they see the sender as unknown or something?

what are you guys saying exactly? I asked a ton of people from 3 different guilds saying I was a member i knew from each and only made 4 G in about 2 hours. How do you get people to give you so much money? or any money in fact.

Toga - Finding a valued member in a guild , not sure how you'd do that , and impersonating them instead of a lower class member would probably get you more money.

Kimick - You wouldn't have too send a ticket , and really shouldn't that'd just cause un-needed problems. Just create a new character that has the same name , except with a foreign letter of a character in a guild , and tell the leader of that guild that the character you are impersonating got hacked. Then , just ask for some gold too start off the character , such as 10-50g too buy equipment or that kind of thing , and tell him that you'll level back too the impersonated characters level as quickly as possible. If this works , just take the money , send it too your main character , or an alt you want too have the money , whatever you want too do with it , then delete the character.

Matt - Nice list of all the foreign letters , I've bookmarked this page and those should be very useful for various reasons. But , one question. Didn't a previous member post a scam about a stealing from a guild leader , and even gave a site too look up the players in a guild , and the guild they are affiliated with? Seems like you stole the idea from one of your own forum members , which was recently posted , and only changed a few things too me. xD

I like the basic concept here.

What i dont understand is why you would use a non-standard character.

you are not trying to trick them into thinking you are exactly the same character that is in the guild, and half of the people wont know how to type that special character into the mail that they are going to be using to send you the cash (unless you tell them exactly how to do it - which is more time and more opportunity for them to clock that maybe they are being robbed blind)

Why not just use a similar char name.

You are alos going to have to try and find guilds with younger players in aren't you ?

Why not try to join the guild ? If only temporarily and talk to everyone in the guild at the same time in guild chat.
That is going to save time trying to explain the same story to everyone.

sure that is higher risk since your assumed char may be on his alt that is also in the guild or you might be asked to go on msn etc (in which case i id say you cant becasue you are having it reinstalled and all files looked at by blizz to try find out how u were robbed/hacked etc)
