    Usergroup-Based Blocks (Read)

I'm suggesting to install a 'Usergroup-Based Blocking' system - might not make sense, cause I'm not sure what it's called.

For example, I could put this in my thread.

    [block=leecher]
    text1
    [/block]

And the 'text1' would be visible to everyone except leechers, to which it would display a 'Your rank is not high enough to view this message.' error over just that block of text.
And you could enter any variety of rank, such as contributer, donator, elite, ect.
    Just an idea.

It wouldn't be that hard to install, and would not talk up much room at all, and wouldn't cause much errors. It's pretty much a basic CSS (stylesheet) edit attached by a javascript.

Find the code and it might be implemented. I personally think it sounds cool and could let more information to be released to the public.

    Donator 6/2008.
    Contrib 8/2008.Elite 10/2008.Newsteam 11/2008.Legendary 2/2009.

I am trying to find it, although, I'm not sure how to word it.
Edit: Bah, I'll just code a basic one myself, cause Like I said, it shouldn't be too hard.

It would be good for some things I guess, But it isn't necessary imo.
Dont want leechers to see your post?
    Post in shared lounge

Dont want Donars to see your post?
    Post in contrib section

And at the max, about 90% of the MMOwned community hate lazy leechers, so everyone would make it so leechers cant see the post.
I was once a leecher and if I wasnt able to see posts, Id say "**** this fourm, Im going somewhere else"

Want greater than leecher? Want less that 80 rep? Got no money and don't want to donate because leechers will steal your work so you can't get into the contributor section? Yeah I guess you're ****ed.

Adding this would be easy (a pretty simple BBCode addition), but it would be abused way too much.

I like the idea, but it'll never work on this site. (There will be far too many posts hidden from leechers->donators)

Just post in the Shared/Private/Contrib/Elite lounges. Simple enough.

Yes, but this way you could make it more widely known what the post is about, but hide the certain details.

In my opinion, this is not a good idea. Like Exo said, if when I first joined I couldn't read posts because my rank wasn't high enough, I would just leave the forum. Everyone was a leecher (or just had low rep) at one point. It's often difficult to find something to contribute. I am not sure if it's the case or not, but I don't believe leechers can give +rep. So that means that higher-ups have to. But all the higher-ups hate leechers, so many of the leechers are never going to get out of that group. Some probably leave, some stay. They stay because they can still access content. If they can't do that anymore, what is the reason for them to stay? The base of the site will slowly start to deteriorate. There are so many contribs, elites, and legendary users who only came to the site recently. If they couldn't access the content on the site when they first got here and were "leechers", I figure a good many of them would have just left.

There is no need for this. Just post in the shared lounge or in the contrib lounge, where lower ranks can't access. To be honest, I don't check many parts of the site, because I do not find many threads that are worthwhile. For the most part, important threads are posted in shared/contrib sections. I assume that most place higher priority and importance on these forums, so if you want higher-ups to see your thread, just post there.
