EverQuest 2: The Shadow Odyssey. to come out tomorrow.

What a better time to release an expansion to a game. The week after the most played MMO comes out with its most anticipated expansion. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past week or two, I'm talking about World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Which has already been predicted to sell over 5 million copies withen the first month of release.

With the release of this new EverQuest expansion, we can expect a lot from the company to keep it's dedicated playerbase by letting new players buy the digital download of all 5 expansions for 40$ and a slew of new content which we can see some of it comes from WotLK ideas (Acheivements. etc...)

    • More than 20 new zones, including the new overland zone, Innothule.
    • Experience nostalgic EverQuest dungeon themes, such as Najena, Mistmoore and The Sebilisian Empire, and adventure through more than 18 goal-based dungeons, such as Ruins of Guk and Befallen.
    • The Achievement Point level cap will be increased to 200 to offer new achievements for class-specific lines.
    • A new Dungeon Delving mission system for players to replay content with new and different experiences.
    • Five (5) new Heritage Quests with unique rewards being added.
    • A new, mysterious group of erudites with powerful new armor and equipment will barter for void shards earned during your encounters.
    • Epic tales of the odyssey are told through battles with dozens of new creatures and hundreds of new quests.
    • Two new deities have been introduced into Norrath, Rodcet Nife and Anashti Sul.
    • Includes Desert of FlamesTM, Kingdom of SkyTM, Echoes of FaydwerTM and Rise of KunarkTM expansion packs, and The Bloodline ChroniclesTM, The Splitpaw SagaTM and The Fallen DynastyTM adventure packs.
    • Also includes Legends of NorrathTM strategic online trading card game, digital starter deck and booster pack.
Will this game surpass WoW and maybe score a spot on MMOwned. Make sure you jot down some exploits or hacks your figure out and put them in the General Gaming section for others to see. You never know, this could be a new playground for cheaters and exploiters.

    For your enjoyment:
    Minimum Requirements
    • Windows 2000/XP
Pentium III 1 Ghz or greater
      512 MB RAM
DirectX 9 Compatible video card -- Pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 64MB of texture memory
      DirectSound compatible audio hardware
      56k Internet Connection
      16x DVD-ROM
      15GB Hard Drive Space

    Recommended Requirements
    • Pentium 4 2 Ghz or greater
      1 GB RAM
DirectX 9 Compatible video card -- Pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 128MB of texture memory or greater
      Broadband Internet Connection

    Release Medium
    • 1 DVD-ROM

    Multiplayer Functions
    • Online Multiplayer
    Discussion Ideas:
Will this game outsell WotLK or not even be recognized by gamers?

What are some cool things your looking forward to about this game?

Do you plan on writing some guides about exploits or hacks upon the games release? Or, how do you think the game will do against the botters and exploiters?

One big chunk of fail > EverQuest series.
Yes, one big chunk of fail is GREATER THAN the EverQuest series. And believe me, not much is worse than the chunk of fail.

To be honest they picked a very wrong date
Almost every MMORPG player has bought WotLK by now and from what I've heard everyone likes it and they probably won't buy EQ2 expansion now, since they're busy with another game they like.
If EQ2 expansion came out like 1-2 weeks before WotLK, players would like EQ2 and didnt feel the need to buy WotLK

I actually came to WoW from EQ 2 and EQ2 was NOT that bad.

WoW's artwork and game play was much better, yet EQ2 was simple.
on my dark elf or w/e i hit 20 in just 5 hours (this is my first mmo so i felt pretty special hearing that it takes most people 7 hours to hit 20 in EQ2)
Sure in WoW i can prob hit 25-30 in 5 hours nonstop but with EQ2's slow combat system... and me being new to mmos at that point... pretty awesome

Amen to Everquest! WoW is only getting more popular because people hear "OMG 10 million players, must be great" and half those people never played mmorpgs before. Give everquest a try, free trials at everquest2.com

    EQ2 will hook you, fast

Exposed vulnerable to cheatengine's speedhack, and doesnt seem to have any detection mechanism other than player reporting, only a handful of gms per server so not much trouble to exploiting
