    [Guide]Mac Itemcache Editing

This is a mac only guide I made to edit your itemcache and change your items graphics.

    First, download OxED - 0xED
It is a basic hex editor.

Go to Wow Folder/Cache/WDB/enUS and open the file itemcache.wdb using 0xED

Now let's say I want to edit my Stormherald to look like the Sulfuras, hand of ragnaros.

Note - you can only find items you have seen, so download atlasloot add-on or something to find most items.

okay, now press command+F to open the find menu, and search for the item YOU WANT. I'll search for sulfuras.

Once you find it, you’ll see on the far right the name of the item highlighted. Make sure the whole name is highlighted. Now there will be eight 0’s, then a four digit code.
The code is highlighted in the screenshot below.

The code for Sulfuras is 0274. Copy that code.

Now go ahead and find the item you WANT CHANGED just like we did for the item we wanted. I’m going to search for stormherald.

Now locate the four digit code after the eight 0’s and change it to 0274, the code for Sulfuras.

Now hit Command+S to save, and login!

I also know how to change sheath positions for weapons. For instance if I skin my stormherald as a fist weapon, the weapon gets awkwardly placed on my back, but if you changed the sheath position it will go at my waist and be invisible when out of combat, like a normal fist weapon.

    Enjoy!

Did you even try doing it before you asked that question?

If you actually followed the guide there really shouldn't be any questions.

    I mean. . . it's pretty simple.

I must admit I tried this out on a trial account, and I couldnt get it to work. I inspected a 70 warr with glaive offhand (So I had seen it before) but still after completing the guide it didnt work

Edit: I notice even though I save the file and everyting, it goes back to normal when I close it and starts wow (somehow).

You can't do it while you are in the game or it will revert it.
Quit WoW. Do It. Save. Start WoW.

Also, with the new patch 3.0.1 I don't believe it works anymore.

Just got it to work tbh, could have something to do with I moved the files base-enGB.MPQ backup-enGB.MPQ out of the data/enGB (enUS for you I think) and it worked. I just moved them to the desktop. Note I am a TOTAL NOOB at this and any programming so well I might just fail here, will edit thread soon when I try again

Edit, it didnt work:P Though having wow closed while doing it works. I now got my offhand Glaive and working on the rest of my gear

Edit 2: I moved back the base-enGB.MPQ backup-enGB.MPQ files and it ****ed up, now im lost again.

Edit 3: I now have removed the base-enGB.MPQ backup-enGB.MPQ files from the data folder, went in and inspected a palla or something with a wicked 2 hand wep. Closed wow, followed the guide and WOPS! working. I dont know if the base-enGB.MPQ backup-enGB.MPQ files is doing any difference, but could somone experienced please shred some light over this since I am THE biggest noob. Thanks

Im in the US, and maybe the files are different? but I don't even have base-enUS or backup-enUS in my enUS folder.
As far as I'm concerned you don't need them /shrug
I'd save them just incase, but removed them for editing.
