    [Guide] How to compile and host arcemu - EASY

    What I've done, and seems to work for me, is I compiled an ArcEmu server and used the database from the AC-Web 7.8 repack. It's a full database and works perfectly fine.

    COMPILING:

    So, you'll need the following programs.

    TortoiseSVN
    Microsoft Visual C++ (If you aren't able to install it, you might need .NET 3.5 Framework which can be found here.)
    AC Web Ultimate Repack 7.8
    Navicat Lite
    ArcEmu Server Restarter

    Step 1: Ok, what you want to do is create a new folder. Let's call it 'arcemu'. Right click on the folder and select 'SVN Checkout'. A window will appear asking for a link. Copy and paste this in: "http://arcemu.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/arcemu/" And leave everything else at default and start it. It should take a while. After it's done, right click the same folder and click 'SVN Update'. That should take a few minutes.

    Step 2: Now, download this. Download it to your 'arcemu' folder. After that's done downloading, go to your visual C++ directory. Should be C:/Program Files/Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0/VC. Now minimize that. Open up your 'arcemu' folder. Now go to the VC folder inside 'arcemu'. Copy both the 'include' and 'lib' files from your 'arcemu' folder to the VC folder in your visual C++ directory.

    Step 3: Go back to your 'arcemu' folder and click on sources. Then click your version of visual C++'s solution. It should open up visual C++ for you. Now, you should see 2 things in the taskbar to the left. 'zlib' and 'PCRE'. Now, at the top, click Build > Configuration Manager. At the top left of the current window, it should say "Active Solution Configuration" as well as giving you a drop down. Click the drop down and select 'Release'. Also, on the right side; select if you want Win32 or x64. If you don't know what those are, leave it at default. Then click OK. Now, at the top, click Build > Build Solution. This should take a minute to finish.

    Step 4: After it's done, close visual C++ for now. Go back to your sources folder. In there, you should see a folder called 'Output_Release'. Go in there. You'll see 2 .lib files. Copy and paste those 2 files into your lib folder in your visual C++ directory. Should be C:/Program Fies/Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0/VC/lib. You'll also get 2 .dll files. You need to move those to your C:/Windows/System32 directory.

    This only has to be done once per compiler. Whenever you update arcemu, this doesn't have to be done again.

    Step 5: Go to arcemu/trunk/win and open ascentVC90. This should open up visual C++. Once again, go to Build > Configuration Manager just to make sure it's on Release and not Debug. Now, click on Build Solution. This should take quite some time. After it's done, exit visual C++. Now go back to arcemu/trunk/src and click on 'scripts2008'. This should also open up visual C++. Make sure it's still on Release and click Build Solution. After it's done, exit visual C++.

    Step 6: Now in your arcemu/trunk/bin/Release folder is your arcemu-world.exe and arcemu-logonserver.exe. Copy and paste the 2 .exe's to your 'arcemu' folder. Be sure to NOT move the makefile from the folder. Now, make a new folder called 'configs' and place all of your .conf in that folder. There should be: arcemu-world.conf, arcemu-optional.conf, arcemu-logonserver.conf, arcemu-realms.conf, and arcemu-voicechat.conf. Keep the configs the way they are at the moment, we'll set those up later. Copy and paste the 'configs' folder to your 'arcemu' directory. Now, copy and paste your 'script_bin' folder into your 'arcemu' directory also.

    Step 7: Now go into your AC Web Ultimate Repack folder. Should be located in C:/AC Web Ultimate Repack. In there, you'll find a tools folder. Go in there. Now click on Map Extractor enUS. In there, you'll find ad.exe and a folder called 'maps'. Copy and paste both 'ad.exe' and 'maps' into your WoW directory. It should be located at C:/Program Fies/World of Warcraft. Now, run your ad.exe. This shoud take a few hours.

    Step 8: Go to C:/AC Web Ultimate Repack/Ascent. Copy and paste the 'dbc' folder from your AC Web folder to your 'arcemu' folder. Also, place the ArcEmu Server Restarter into your 'arcemu' folder. Open up your ArcEmu Server Restarter and click 'options'. Now browse and select your 'arcemu' folder. Save and exit.

    HOSTING:

    Download the following:

    Create an account at DynDNS here
    Download DynDNS Updater here

    Step 1: If you're on a modem, skip this step. If you have internet through a router, you'll need to forward some ports. To do that, you'll need to get into your router. On most routers, all you need to do is type 192.168.1.1 in your browser address bar. It depends on your router, you should know how to do it. Once you get to the forwarding port applications, these are the ports you need forwarded:

    3306
    3724
    8093
    8129
    80

    Step 2: You'll need to edit your .conf's to go with your database and host address. So, open up Navicat Lite. Click 'New Connection'. There, put this in:

    Connection name: ArcEmu
    Host name: localhost
    Port: 3306
    Username: root
    Password: ascent

    It should connect you to the database instantly. My suggestion is to change your database password. So, at the top you'll see 'Manage Users'. Click that and click on root@localhost. Then click 'Edit User'. Change the password to what you want, then save it. Now, close your connection and re-connect using your new password.

    Step 3: Time to edit the .conf's. It should look like this:

    arcemu-logonserver.conf
    Code:

    Feel free to edit these to your liking.

    Now save your .conf's.

    Step 4: Now go to C:/Program Files/ World of Warcraft and click on realmlist.wtf. Change your realmlist from 'set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com' to 'set realmlist [your host address]' and save it.

    Step 5: Now we need to set up your account registration page. Go to C:/AC Web Ultimate Repack/Server/htdocs and find 'configuration.php'. Right click it and open with Notepad. Scroll down and find '$mosConfig_password = 'ascent';' Change 'ascent' to your password for your database. Save and exit.

    Step 6: Adding users to the database. Go into Navicat Lite and click Manage Users. Click 'Add User'. Choose his username, leave host blank, and choose his password. Then press 'OK'. Checkmark his permissions and save it. Now you've added a new user.

    Step 7: Running your server. Go into C:/AC Web Ultimate Repack/Server and run MySQL.bat and Apache.bat. Now, go into your 'arcemu' folder and run 'arcemu-logonserver.exe' and 'arcemu-world.exe'. It should take a minute to load. Your default account is admin/admin until you change it, and admin2/admin2 if you don't have BC. You also want the restarter up to make life easier, so run the restarter and checkmark 'logonserver' and 'world' and leave it alone.

    You're done. You've just compiled your own server with an up to date database and hosted it too!

    Make sure you update your SVN constantly for new updates, then simply recompile. Don't be afraid to run the SQL updates that come in the SQL file under 'arcemu/trunk/sql'. It always has handy dandy updates that make your database stay up to date. If you have any problems or questions, you may post here or MSN me at [email protected] and I'll help you the best I can.

    Just as an add on, if...
    Code:
    <LogonServer RemotePassword = "your_password_here"
                 AllowedIPs = "your_hostaddress_here/32"
                 AllowedModIPs = "your_hostaddress_here/32">
    If that doesn't seem to get you connected... then you'll see a DENIED IP in your logonserver.exe window. Take that IP, and place it in there like this:

    Code:
     AllowedIPs = "DENIED_IP_HERE/32"
                 AllowedModIPs = "DENIED_IP_HERE/32">
    That should fix it.

    Some screenies should hurt abit =P And why do you link the ac-web repack? Also this is wrong in your guide

    Code:
    <LogonServer RemotePassword = "your_password_here"
                 AllowedIPs = "your_hostaddress_here/32"
                 AllowedModIPs = "your_hostaddress_here/32">
    127.0.0.1/32 is wokring enough as allowed, as 99.999% of all times, the .exe files is located on the same computer.

    And remote password, can be whatever, just need to fit the one in the ascent-world.config

    Ummm yes. Some kind of a database. The reason I suggested that one is because it's pretty easy to set up. Although, you can use any database you like it's just you'd have to connect it with your .confs as well as having the MySQL server link up with your arcemu server.

    You can host a server with any router, you just have to forward the ports correctly.

    Ok, what is the best router (or easyest) for this to be done with?
