Can someone recommend me a DB and a emu to go with it ? +REP for helpers

Okay I've been going through trouble getting a server to work. I got quite far but i can't create charecters and the problems change with what emu i use.

I guess i need a DB and a emu that goes well together.

Can anyone recommend me that ?

    +Rep for helpers.. useful helpers.

Ascent + NCDB has always been my choice... but it's actually a tie between NCDB and Project silvermoon. My best advice: Get the server running barebones first (able to log in and move around, etc, with a basic database), then run scripts, custom quests, instant lvl 80, whatever you plan to do. Another point of advice: Ascent has been way easier for newbies to get running than mangos, IMO.

p.s. The term newbie was not used in a bad way.. i mean look at MY rep for goodness sake :P

Check the release section here and AC-Web for the Honery 2 in 1 repack, it's pretty darn good.

What I don't understand with ascent is why there are like 10 different ascent cores with 90% same code and with ~5 developers in each of them who are stealing code from each other. Same with their databases... WhyDB, NCDB and all that. Also same with scripting projects. Just work together! Just look at MaNGOS: ONE core with 22 developers and a huge community of patch submitters, ONE database (UDB), ONE scripting project (ScriptDev2).

Of course there is silvermoon project too, but I've never seen anyone from MaNGOS using it. I don't even know if they still work with a mangos DB. They are more like ascent people, a bunch of kids who wants their own project. No offense.

So my point here is: I recommend MaNGOS + UDB. And I wouldn't recommend a repack since they always are outdated and not supported at the mangos forum.

I downloaded WhyDB before and it gave me a seperated DB.

    1 table = 1 sql file

And that would take hours to load up.

And i've never liked AC Web but i might give it a shot

In the WhyDB SVN it's a file called "tool.bat" run it, follow the instructions, and it will execute all DB tables.

You use AC Web and you're server will die. Use NCDB, real men use it.
