    [Guide] Making your website secure.

    Making your private server's website secure.

    Having a website for your private server is always good.
    It's a common place for people to check out your server
    a little before joining it, it can also show indications on
    how the server is runned. For example;
    a WebSIte ThAT haS aLl tEXt lIke thIS
    won't be taked seriously, but that is just common sense.
    What we are going to do today is to make sure that you and
    your website is secure of Blizzard.
    A private server is in some countries counted as stealing
    and can give penalties.*

    But after we are done, there won't be evidence enough for
    a court order.

    There are two crucial steps:

    Creating a disclaimer;

    If you have browsed around the most famous servers' websites,
    you have noticed the disclaimers. At the first page of every
    website there is a disclaimer that you have to agree on to get
    to the actual website. This is the best way to secure your
    website. A few sentences can legally protect you from blizzard
    and in fact rival servers (although it is a little extreme seuing
    someone for stealing your idea, I would also say it is a little
    extreme if not impossible taking patent on a private
    server). These few lines prevents blizzard
    from using anything on the website for evidence in an court;

    "By conceeding to this form you declare that you are not an employee of,
    affiliated with or in some way associated with Blizzard Entertainment or any
    of the companies affiliated or associated with Blizzard Entertainment."

    Protecting yourself from WhoIs services;

    The simple program whois is the worst enemy you have.
    It is unknown to alot of people. With it can anyone,
    with access to the internet see your registered name,
    home adress, phone number and such.
    One way of protecting it is to use fake information
    which I although recommend you not to. That could* get you
    in legal problems. Instead, set up an WhoIs blocker.
    Not all websites provides that kind of service, for example (www).one.com
    does not provide it on their .com and .net
    domains. So before registering your domain, ask them
    if they provide WhoIs-blocking services. You can do
    it yourself but as far as I know, it's hell of a job.

    Most domain providors has got a live chat with
    an agent employed by their company. Use that
    to ask questions, it is always very helpful.
    If you are lucky, they might even do the work
    for you.

    * Has a very small chance of happening but is still
    possible.

    I am very aware of that this is basic stuff,
    and you do not have to leave comments on that.
    I hope this has helped someone improving
    their safety!
