For all of you getting the
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail." error

Try installing Windows .Net Framework 3.5 and restarting your PC when it's done. I had the same error for a while and read up on it via random websites on Google and whatnot and after trying just about everything other than installing .net FW 3.5 I was about to give up until i gave in and finally downloaded it. and voala problem fixed! hope this is helpful to everyone out there.

This can mean several things and not just limited to the .NET Framework.
Trying to run an application compiled with Visual Studio 2002/2003/2005/2008 when not having the correct runtime installed will also produce the same error.
